Damn! Best of luck, man. And as far as getting my dick or balls operated on....I sure hope they would knock me out first.
I also had a finger operation a few months ago. I did not realize how many times they wanted to see me for follow up consultations. Being a teaching hospital I was seen by a few interns and trainees, this being a good thing that they were getting experience. Anyway, waiting around for an operation is a mind sobering experience. I thought about my whole life where I had been and where I might go in future. I was also reminded of how my Mum has been in and out of hospital due to a nasty car accident she had in 1967. Going under general anesthetic you will have to fast from 12 midnight for a morning operation, but allowed two bits of toast for an afternoon operation. You will be hungry when you wake up.
Good luck. Sure it'll be fine. My husband had to go to the hospital--- short term surgery area--- to get a benign growth taken out of his finger a year or two ago. He had always just had a local anesthetic before but the doc said because of exactly where it was on the finger, he'd have to knock him out because if there was any movement at all for that particular area it would not be good at all. Anyways I went w him and it was showing on the screen when he was in surgery and stuff. I think it took about 45 mins and then recovery was an hour or so. Something like that. He got some decent meds too (there but really I meant a script to take home) even though he had next to no pain at all afterwards.
It's all over. Had the procedure today. It took ninety minutes to remove the tumor from my finger. I was down the whole time. Got to keep the right hand elevated. My hand is still numb as I'm about to go to bed. But once the numbing medicine wares off, I'm sure it will hurt like hell the next morning.
They gave me Oxys. No need for a nerve block. I just had my first post-op appointment where they removed my soft cast. Holy shit! The incision was much bigger than I originally thought. It extends from top to bottom of my index finger, the tumor wrapped around the entire joint of the finger, and they had to amputate a whole artery!
Glad that it is over for you and now just do what you need to in order to heal properly. Healing is the most important part as following the instructions will help you to have full usage of the finger once healed.
