If they want to get married, let them do it. Fuck marriage. I'm glad the DOMA thing was shot down, but at the same thing, marriage means nothing to me. If it's consensual, I don't give a shit. Doesn't affect me.

I think this is a great step for our country towards more equal rights

 

Huge step in the right direction. I do say this though why do people want to get married its a christian insulting. I am not against it just interested in why people do it? You can spend the rest of your lives with someone without being married

 

There are legal reasons to get married. Such as social security survivor benefits, legal right to partnership decision that unsympathetic family members can't override like medical decisions and hospital visits. Also inheritance that comes automatically with legal marriage. All these things were denied gay couples but are automatic in marriage.

 

Will I anger anyone if I say the government shouldn't address marriage at all? How is marriage the job of government to condone or condemn?

People should freely associate beyond the view of government.
