OK OK OK I've seen the funny picture of the oil fire 20 times.
this thread is getting hard to read.

my thoughts about the original post....I met some of the guys who went to Iraq at a freinds house. At that time they were gung-ho about the army. These two were kind of uneducated, didn't listen to NPR (actually, I don't even think they listened to Rush !). I thought their minds were basically products of the spin-doctors. I don't know where they are right now... sitting bored guarding an empty house? afraid to walk around Baghdad or wherever?....angry because "we" put them there? I don't think "hero" is the word but these two guys get my respect for having to go through that misery while I can go hiking in the mountains on my weekends.

    soulrebel51,
you're not merely protesting- you advocate murder and violence in the name of your cause. Sounds like you and Osama have something in common... Violent, irrational, anti-Americanism, perhaps?

But on the other hand, you are dictating how those under fire should behave- and that has a great big Bush stamp on it. Nethier of you has a clue what it's like- But you got all the answers for those who are actually in the shit.

If anyone has a better plan to run the USA bring it out.
How can we effectively change it. Who will run it.What will we replace it with.
We can talk all day but it's in the doing that will bring about change, not griping and fighting about it. War is War, wheather we have guns or harsh words with one another. Peace will come when all is peaceful within them selves. Don't clean someone elses backporch till your own is clean. We have all come here to find answers, we are all in the same boat when it come to govrnment, no system is perfect, we can only perfect ourselves and when that is accomplished we will be at peace. Why are we at odds with oneanother here. Do we not come all from our Creator, whom or whatever that may be. Are we brothers and sisters on this planet or do we come from different dementions. Do we not all bleed red blood and do we not all cry salty tears.
A little love and understanding can go a long way. We each have our own lessons to learn. Each different, we can't all act, think, look or live the same thing, we can not take up the same space or frequency of another. Can we sit in judgement of anothers lessons. We can only live and learn to grow with the change that live brings.
I get on my soapbox and yes I am at times judgemental or critical of others. These are my lessons to learn. My obsticals to overcome and perfect myself. I don't know everything, but the things I do know I try to improve on and perfect the them the best of my abbility, as a human being.
If one is on a quest for love and light, it seems to me that there should be something to guide them on with love and light. A little voice in the darkness that leads us into the light. That little voice that comes from within that says, it's ok little flower come on into the light and grow. Blossom and become beautiful and share your gifts of Beauty to bless the eye, and a fragrance to tantalize the sence of smell, The softness of the petal to please of sence of touch, the touch that makes it a reality and not a fantacy that was but a dream, and least we not forget the gift of love that the flower posseses when given as a symbol of LOVE LOVE LOVE, emotion. All the fineness of our Creation, all gifts to be shared with whom ever stops to smell the roses.

    May Peace Prevail
May people wake up to the fact that they are being conditioned and manipulated and lied to by their governments...
May no more human beings die from war, no matter where they were born or where they live now...
May the deceiptful and the greedy and those who profit from war be seen for who and what they are and may the truth of what is happening be known to all.
May love and peace and compassion pierce the heart of all on earth and bring us back into harmony. These are the prayers of my heart.
Love is always the answer. Make love not war. Wage Peace.
    I love you Soulrebel.

Would we fight and die for our beliefs.
Would you fight for a cause you belived in with your whole heart.
Would you teach your children to stand up for their beliefs but back down if they were challenged.
Is it ok to fight but not fight.
Can we live to be trampled by the stronger man and lay there being trampled.
These are questions I ask myself in my deepest judgements of myself and my beliefs.
I don't want war, I never did. But what are we to do.
Not everyone belives the same. Some strive for the ego. Some for the ALL.
I don't know how to do away with war, I wish I did, do you.
I lost my first hubby to war, veit nam, in 67. I had many friends come back missing limbs and sanity, some did not come back. I have loved ones in this war. I can not judge them for their motives, it's their lesson to learn. I can hate war, but I don't condem the warriors. In this NOW that we live in, there is a need for a organization to protect us, from whatever lurks in the darkness. There is negativity in this world and it feeds on the meak and helpless.

I believe also, darling sister, that the warriors are beautiful souls also and would never condemn them.
I condemn the ignorance, the lack of truthfulness, the motivations and the disregard for human life and freedom of those who have chosen the path of war. Because it is pitiful that our loved ones should have to fight and die for no good reason except someone else's greed and for oil and the desire for power.
The lies have gone on for too long...they have become a thread that is difficult to unravel...but unravel we must... or see the knot for what it is, without justifying the lies and compounding the errors.
Blood is spilled and pain and suffering are being endured unnecessarily. One lie has led to another and through propaganda tthey try to make us all believe in the 'noble cause'.
I will keep my sovereignty of thought and belief in peace and love.
Yes, if someone attacked my family without provocation, I would defend them. I think many Iraquis must feel the same way right now. We forced them to disarm, and then we bombed them. Now we carve up the pie of reconstruction to make more blood money.
What price, what cost, human suffering? When will we have had enough?
When will we stand up and say "this is enough"?
War is hell. Bring them home from hell.
Why not send the politicians out to fight and then wars would be a thing of the past, forever. Let them suffer the consequences of their own actions in the present moment.
I am sick to my stomach of their festering lies. I am sick of the horrors our dear ones have to endure.
What has been done, has been done. But let's change the future. Bring them home.

you sound like a deadhead.Yes if my beliefs are wrong and iraq overthrows us or some silly shit like that or I get mugged on the street and don't carry a gun,i guess i could get killed.Carrying signs, setting one's self on fire,or standing in front of tanks, does absolutly no good.Remember Bobby Sands?,not to many people do.As far as the draft,if they want 50 year old men with half worn out bodies,I guess i'd had better get a ticket for canada.

Bless your 50 year old bod, gate68.
Some of us put our bodies on the line, some put our souls up front.
    Peace Brother!

there were a lot of posts to read, so forgive me if i'm repeating another's statement.

i support my troops in that i support bringing them home. my brother's ex boyfriend went to iraq, and all he wants is to come home. i can't speak for everyone, and i'm not trying to, as i don't know many people that have enlisted. those i've spoken to, though, have all said they either just wanted to come home, or once they were home wished they never had to go back. so i support their wishes to return and remain at home.

Money makes the war go around...the war go around...(etc etc)

    Have a look at this:

    Cost of War
Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), March 19, 2005
The Bush administration has requested $80 billion in supplemental funding to continue the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. "Supplemental" means costs of war that do not appear in the program-slashing 2006 Federal budget. As your Congressional representatives debate the cost of the continuing occupation, bear in mind what is being spent to fund this debacle on a daily basis. The National Priorities Project's latest publication analyzes the $82 billion request for war-related funding. Included are updated state and city cost of war numbers. Here's a running total of the cost of the Iraq war, as well as a link to see the costs to your community:
