Well, today is another Friday the 13th. How many of you believe it can cause something bad to happen?

In the military I made my 13th parachute jump on a Friday, October 13, 1967.

Now I was an Air Force Combat Controller so we didn't have to go through all of the crap that the Army paratroopers did. In fact, we'd simply check with the pilots and see who needed a certifying air drop and have, what we called, a fun jump. One of these had been scheduled for me and a few of my CCT brothers the week before. It didn't occur to us it was a Friday the 13th until the day before and, as a matter of fact, it was scheduled to be at 1300 hours. (1:00 p.m.)

With all of the joking about it that day before, I had a dream the night before.

I dreamed that I had forgotten to put my chute on and jumped out of the C-130 without one. As I was falling, I just started flapping my arms and it slowed me down. In fact, I actually managed to do a standing landing. Go figure? LOL!

OK, and I swear, this is absolutely true!

Anyone else with a Friday the 13th story?

One interesting aspect of this Friday the 13th is the fact that it lands on a full moon, and the next time this rare occurs won’t be until 2049.

Btw You can fly cheaper on Friday the 13th because most people don’t wants to be in the air on what they consider the unluckiest day of the year.

    Blame the "superstition" on christianity.

All of our days except Saturday (saturn-day) Sunday (sun-day) and Monday (Moon-day) are named after the Norse Gods. Tuesday (Tyr) Wednesday (Wodan/Odin) Thursday (Thor) Friday (Freyja/Frigg)

Friday was named for Freyja, (Freya) the Norse Goddess. Freya's number was 13.

So in essence Friday the 13th is Freya's day. Early christianity demonized anything to do with the Norse gods and especially the Goddesses (Male domination over powerful females)

Freya's day was deemed to be "Unlucky" by the church... especially for anyone that still followed the "Old ways" and celebrated Freya's Day. Those people would be found dead in a ditch somewhere... Pretty unlucky thing, that

I was out walking my dogs this morning, and a bad leg simply gave way, causing me to fall flat on my face. Fortunately, it happened on a dirt trail. The dirt was hard but at least it wasn't pavement. And I kept hold of the leashes, was able to pick myself up, and continue the walk with, so far, just some sore ribs. But it happened out of the blue, never happened before, and scared the hell out of me! I guess I'm lucky it didn't happen in the middle of the street, which we crossed a few minutes later. I don't believe Friday the 13th is unlucky. I suspect voodoo!
