i love how his girlfriend was a vegan this movie got a lot of publicity because it jarred mcstupid stupid to disband their supersize menu, and embark on a pitiful campaign of "healthy" fast foods like salads which have just as much fat in the dressing and the bacon piled on top as in a big mac. did they say this in the movie itself? i cant remember all the facts straight as my mind is very twisty
Inner conflict IS neurosis. Inner conflict between parental authority and the persuasive authority of modern advertising is not normal, not natural, and is more than a mere threat, it consumes our psycho-energy, and directly undermines our mental health. Everyone, man, woman, and child, in our complex hierarchical civilization suffers from neurosis. We are fucked up. Burying our heads in the sand, to avoid confronting our ubiquitous neurosis is no cure. Rather, it is the psychosis of denial. The psychotic delusion that our neurotic state is normal and natural. Delusion and denial is how we as a culture cope with neurosis everyday, and yes, that is a mental dysfunction of our entire collective unconscious. Good and Evil are best left to Sunday School. Corporate motivations, like the motivations of all hierarchical institutions, are the subconscious impulses of our repressed sexual energy. In other words, sex by other means. lol, politics is best left to the tabloids. But yes, as a hierarchical institution, politics is also merely sex by other means. And, an indulgent corporate nanny state will always indulge their little darling's phantasies. Until we take responsibility for knowing what truely motivates our actions, those actions will not reflect reality. Self Control is only possible when you have true Control of your Self.
I'm not the one who thinks he's being forced to go eat junk food by meanie adverts. And using a term like "psycho-energy" doesn't really do your case any favours. Do you see auras?
Forced? lol ! We're simply being seduced by the constant and unrelenting power of suggestion. Psycho-energy is one of the basic discoveries of modern science. Psycho-energy describes how all our thoughts, emotions, feelings, and dreams, are like everything else in our universe; simply another form of energy. Psycho-energy. Like all energy, psycho-energy was found to follow all the general laws of energy.
I don't know how "psycho-energy" energy effects such things , i think it depends on social class more than anything. Maybe its the middle class and the lower middle and working class that are more likely to be affected by the whim of their children...just to keep them occupied and save on cooking . but thats probably unfair.
It's the other way around. Our neurosis consumes psycho-energy that could be used for more productive mental functions. Strangely it effects the wealthy far more. Our preoccupation towards acquiring wealth is a result of our neurotic fears and insecurities within our competitive primate sexual hierarchy. However, because fast foods are associated with being middle or lower class, we don't see as large a percentage of the wealthy being seduced by the persuasive suggestions of fast food advertising. The wealthy are being seduced by contrary suggestions.
Do you know what i think i agree with you. not realy sure why, well i do but i will ramble..but this makes sense >
rent the DVD and watch the extras. How long will fries look pristine? Morgan Spurlock did say he consumed what "experts" (I think nutritionists) say a person should consume in eight years. NOw, what I see is kids eat school lunch (possibly worse than a McBinge) eat fast food after school and mom & dad order pizza for dinner. 40 percent of US meals are in restaurants, that does include raw vegan cafes, but let's be real... We eat badly. Spurlock simply demonstrated it.
The thing that really bothered me was the children that couldnt identify George Washington or Jesus but they knew who Ronald McDonald was.
First of all I wouldn't try living off McDod's.The problem is not what they do sell but what they don't sell. They essentially sell snacks rather than square meals.Dinner for me means meat/fish at least two types of vegies and potato.Something you cannot get at McDod's.The orange juice is ok.The coffee is ok.The odd burger of various types is ok but I would not try living off it.If you think that McDods is unhealthy, research margarine.ITS SHIT. What is the problem with fat? From my research it is not the quantity of fat that matters but the quality.
cherryiceangel, Actually It's quite fascinating watching a relatively healthy young man slowly deteriorate over 30 days by just eating fast food. I mean in the process he did eat fruits & vegetables, and dairy products which are on the McDonald's menu -- but his health continued to decline.... Talk about a KILLER MENU h
saw it twice . i thought it was pretty awsome. its not like a didnt already know that fast food was bad for you but it was still cool that the dude wanted to get his point across the world. alot of the things they mentioned though were realy eye openers.
how did the chica friend deal with teh smell? fast food grease...uck. but maybe that is why he was traveling?
DR. REEFER, It was really was pretty awesome. The only place I think I've ever traveled which didn't have the golden arches was on Martha's Vineyard Isl off the Massachusetts coast. I hope they didn't give in to the pressure h
You are right to a degree, I do believe it is your responsibility to not eat it, but the way they advertise it....they show very fit people, with no body fat, all having a great time and eating bigmacs and fries and drinking coke...and regardless if you know how bad it is for you or not, it makes you think that you can eat it and stay fit....which is not true at all. We live in a society that pretty much accepts, by the age of 3, that eating bad food is completely normal, and of course it's not good for you, but it doesn't matter, you just don't even think about it... Peace and Love, Dan
I think the film was good and done in a semi-humorous way. It was interesting to see what the doctors predicted at the beginning (basicly, you'll just gain some weight, chol count) and the end result. The footage of the smoking fries on the dvd is just creepy. They don't rot, they don't grow anything, they look just like the day you bought them months later. I also don't get how people come rushing in to defend the corporations. m6m provided some very sound posts about the phenomonae of fast food yet the reaction is almost like a playground one. Nah, nah, nah sticking your hands up to your ears and blowing raspberry sounds. Why is it that people get all in an uproar over exposing the corporate modus operandi? Alright, who's paying you?! he he. Seriously though, it just seems quite strange. Perhaps denial really hits the spot on this one.
