lol, 20 kg of chicken nuggets...

and i thought the movie was quite funny, in a sad way. McDonalds in a hospital, i mean, wtf?

Mind you I havn't had maccas or bk in six years...and I had KFC once (never again)...The only types of fast food I eat are the veggie options from Subway. as for the rest of it - I already was grossed out by those chains, the movie confirmed it.

(also - comic highlight of the movie - when the kids couldn't recognise jesus. "is it..george bush? ahahahah)

Didn't change much for me, since I don't eat fast food and was not surprised by the outcome.

One part was really stupid. This fat girl watched the subway commercial guy talk about how you can lose weight by eating at subway, and then kept bitching about how a normal person will never be able to lose weight because they can't afford subway. Guess what, bitch, subway is not a fucking magic cure. It's not even all that healthy, in comparisson to home cooked food. Just make a cheap little sandwich at home instead of stuffing your mouth full of burgers. It'll even cost you less on the long run.

But it was, overall, a good movie.

Yeah, that part was totally dumb.
I don't really know what kind of point that the he was trying to get across, but I think that it was to do with people constantly trying to make excuses for not eating something that's a little more healthy cuz McD's is a little cheaper.

I saw it & it did affect my eating somewhat. I normally don't eat fast food in general because I'm not much of a meat eater. I couldn't believe how much weight he gained & his cholesterol was so high, etc. It was really disgusting, but it's our choice to eat those things so. It's true though, it's seems more costly & inconvenient to be healthy on the run, so it's a vicious cycle. The only thing I do eat from fast food are the breakfast sandwiches which I know are awful but, I eat them on occasion or get a craving for one. Other than that I haven't eaten any fast food since I saw it.

yea..what she said....i love how they exploited the fast food industry for what they really do...i think its a real shame that kids did not know who jesus was yet they knew who ronald mcdonald, and that middle aged women know the big mac slogan and not the pledge of alleigance....that is why capitalism was such a bad idea

yeah i saw it and reinforced my views on fast food , especially eating mcdonalds. Its very rare that i will touch any fast food, but i'm a big fan of chips (or french fries for the american friends) but i like getting potatos and make them myself rather than buy them anywhere where the frying oil hasnt been changed for days! after i saw that documentary/film, i felt like i needed an apple!!

I love that term, teenage eating!

I will be honest, I occasionally eat this shit. NO, I know it isn't good for me. But, like TV, I am not going to say I don't do it when I do. (I know some of the veggies on this thread and I KNOW they don't eat there, but for a lot of other people I know, saying they don't eat at McDs is like saying they don't watch TV, something they do, but don't want to admit to. Kinda like masturbating.) I once went to McDs two days in a row, and realized I had done it, and made a joke about this movie "God, this is gross, I have been here two days in a row. Ever see that movie "Supersize me?" I am grossed out." Sadly, the person who took my order spoke no English and just nodded and smiled. I'm betting she didn't see the movie.

I must admit, it took me a few months after seeing this movie to go there again. I do it when I am in a hurry, and alone, and can't stop home for breakfast. Sad, it really is.

Outlawing crap food? No, like someone humorously pointed out, it will only create an underground demand for it. People need to educate themselves and choose food for themselves. I think they should show this movie in schools. But so many schools get funding from McDs, isn't going to happen any time soon.

That is awful. What an example to set. Free Heart ByPass with every order of fries.

bedlam, the puke part was supposed to be yuck! :)

I thought the McDonalds stuff was slightly stupid and proved nothing at all. Shoving fast food down your throat will make you ill.. 'no shit sherlock' of course it will. The segments on School meals intrested me though..something i do not see mentioned within this thread ??..That is something to worry about and talk about, even if it is not as 'exciting' as making Mcdonalds seem to be the biggest health risk on the planet (it was a easy and blatant seat filling tool by the director imho) .

My Social Studies teacher let me borrow his copy of the film, and he's been letting anyone in my class who wanted to borrow it do so. I knew that all that stuff was bad for me, but it was amazing to see how unhealthy the guy in the film got (Morgan Spurlock is his name, if I remember correctly?) The part where he got the chest pains was couldn't breath was really shocking. I totally relate to his vegan girlfriend, because I'm a vegan, and my boyfriend doesn't really take care of himself. :-/

Mc Donald's has a really good new salad. It's just apples, grapes, and walnuts. I was pretty happy about that.

That movie made me feel bad about letting my kid get happy meals.

I haven't eaten at McDonalds for ten years so it was preaching to the converted here. As a documentary or an issue piece it was slightly thin; clearly even McDonalds themselves say that eating so much fast food is unhealthy. It was just an opportunity for the film maker to get some footage that would make an interesting-ish documentary. It was interesting-ish.

It had a great theme song over the end credits!:)

Matthew raises an interesting ppoint. In the US, many schools, at all levels, are getting vendors in from outside. My son's elementary school in Okla has Sodexho-Marriott for lunch "catering" because to enlarge the cafeteria would be cost prohibitive.
Oddly enough the community (2 year) college I was attending at the same time also has S-M food, but ours was different.
I can understand that outsourcing. Not totally agree, but the kids need hot lunch, at least in winter.
What got disturbing was Friday pizza days. Domino's Domino's contributes HEAVILY to right-to- life causes. Since I don't agree with the owner's stance, I stoppped ordering the pizza back in....oh... I think it was 1990. I do get take away and delivery pizza, just not that company.
What was going on was Domino's gave a small percentage of the profit back to the school in exchange for an exclusive contract.
My college had the same deal with Coca-Cola: a percentage back in exchange for exclusivity.
Both populations were sort of stuck in the buildings. The kiddies legally and the college kids financially as fast food cost more plus the drive.
I worked on the college newspaper as well, so I was on campus for about 12 hours a day some days.
John Robbins writes extensively in Diet For a New America about the Egg Board, Dairy councils and meat lobbies providing "nutrition curricula" to schools. Remember "Have a 3-2-4-4 Day"?
So now we are "branding" the babes in school.
The USDA finally adopts reasonable if not great vegetarian meals in the federal school lunch program but the schools are looking to exploitative companies to add a trickle of cash to their own starving budgets.
Perhaps "fast food is bad for you" is a No shit "Spurlock" kind of assumption... but WHY do we as a culture do it anyway?
What has fallen in our values to allow us to fuel ourselves with lowest grade fuel that actually steals life from us?

drumminmama i did initialy watch it to see what it had to say about Mcdonalds..nothing new realy.. I was suprised to see the stuff on school meals (not in the advertisements or press i did not notice ?).It intrested me about the school meals because we have had the same kinda thing over here

    http://education.guardian.co.uk/schoolmeals/0,15643,1374131,00.html
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/4391695.stm

Imho because it is fast and it keeps the kids happy..prety much like shoving them infront of the TV to keep them occupied. I am not sure if it is a fundemental lack of awareness or if it is down to finances of the parents or something ?..Many things can be blamed i suppose always somebody elses fault?. How much does the core food groups cost knowadays |? a bit of creativity etc ..Does not work like that though i suppose , like kids want nike or schoot or whatever other fashion is around now .. kids want what all there friends eat wich involves food that tastes good but is no good for you. Then parents moan when there kids are bouncing of the walls with all the additives and stuff  . Schools deffinitly should shoulder a great deal of the responsibility though .

    Time and patience.

Do you know what he did with the profits ?.

I am going to make a film about the EU..if you want to be in it you have to read the treaty to the camera from start to finish..then roam the streets asking the general public what 'rights' are being taken away from us. It will be a fascinatingish film and i may get abi tittmus to be in it as well (give it a bit of a celebrity feel).
