Did any of you hear about the documentery "super size me"? If you have, doesn't it make you feel really good to not eat meat?
that was actually done by a person who used to go to my school. But come on..who in their right mind would think that eating only mcdonalds for a month wouldnt hurt you? I wouldnt expect to be in tip top shape by eating nothing but lettuce either.
Has a business presented lettuce as a meal? I think eating lettuce all the time would make me much less sick than eating a mcdonalds meal all the time. I heard of the documentary a long time ago. I want to see it.
The Mcdocumentary has nothing to do with meat, who wouldnt be sick from eating all that oiled up greasy shit on a daily basis? The whole point of the movie is to show people what the effects of fast food places and american pop culture can do to normal people. Mcdodnalds itself even without meat products is still unhealthy no matter waht you say, fast food is still junk
What you said makes sense joe. I think the point is meat is always assosiated with fast food places, which usually soak their food in with grease. So veggi-ism is the opposite of the fat consuming nation.
I am DYING to see this documentary! I heard about it a while ago, and much as I pity the guy for having to go thru that sort of pain it still seems like a pretty strong message. Yes, it was obvious before the movie that McDonalds would make you sick if you ate it every day, but I think that this sort of thing is going to make people actually think about how disgusting fast food is.
i never saw mcdonalds claim that their food was a healthy balanced diet. Why is anyone shocked that it would hurt you to eat nothing but that? Like i said, eating only lettuce doesnt give you a health balacned diet either and would cause a breakdown in the body from the MANY nutrients it lacks. Omnis cant get along eating just meat...
thats absolutely stupid meat is one set of food..vegetarianism is a wide ecompassing set of foods(fruits, veggies, etc). You can live healthy as an omni and as a veggie. you cant as eating only fruits or meats.
See dude, this is what pisses people off. By all means criticise someone's opinion if you disagree with it. But calling them stupid just because they hold an opinion different from your own makes you look ignorant, not them.
i didnt call THEM stupid, i called their IDEA stupid. Comparing meat to vegetarianism IS STUPID... what would you say if i said this "People can get along just fine and dandy eating as an onmivore, but not by eating just fruit...telling isnt it?"
really? so are fruits and dairy not considered part of a vegetarian diet? and MEAT includes pig, cow, dear etc.
If somebody puts forward stupid ideas, then they are, by definition, stupid. Your distinction is a semantic one. And again.... just because you disagree with an idea, it doesn't make it stupid. By all means argue that they're wrong, but try and refrain from insulting people. You'll be taken a lot more seriously that way.
There is a distinction made between vegetables and fruits. Then in my ignorance, i must ask this. WHat makes a person a vegetarian instead of a vegan if they are refusing to eat dairy? Is there something else that must be given up to be a vegan? And you tried to make it sound like meat is an all encompassing diet like Vegetarianism. Which it is NOT
Well this is open to debate. Some vegans insist that the definition encompasses an avoidance of all animal products, while others will argue that the strict definition is dietary. Dictionary definitions also vary. All those with an interest in animal rights/welfare would presumably agree that an abidance of all animal products is desirable, though.
yes...a fruitarian would fare better than a meat eater. I am not an advocate for eating meat only. and thanks for the response... what is wrong with honey though? I would think that it is one of the most naturally occuring things that doesnt result in death of animals(though i dont know how they mass produce honey now)
Yeah, this is why if you're not gonna be vegan, it's a good idea to source all your produce from local suppliers where possible. The same goes for meat if you ain't gonna be veggie..... at least try and get it locally from a farm that you know has some interest in the welfare of the animals (although killing them kinda contradicts that I guess....).
This thread really got off the subject, but it was nice hearing what your views were on veganism! I am only a vegetarian, but I try to stay away from leather products. It is hard to figure out where I stand, because just killing cows for leather is less painful than the process of milking them.
the guy ate everything on the menue throughout the course of one month - mcds serves more than just meat, i don't believe anyone said anything about eating just meat, someone even said the documentary had nothing to do with meat, just the fact that amerikans eat way the hell too much fast food and that's a major cause for the high number of fat kids in this country. anyways, it was a great documentary, the guys girlfriend was a vegan chef, i think i'm gonna go steal her from him and she can cook for me cuz that food looked damn good....hehehe ~Dan
