A Radical New Magnet Without Rare-Earth Metals Is About to Change Motors Forever (msn.com)

I've been expecting this for a few years now, but this is the first news I've heard on the subject. Physicists have even found new types of magnets recently, and have figured out countless ways to make high performance magnets cheaper, but this looks like the first production versions we might see. Being 200x faster, for 20% of the cost, no rare earths, and even more environmentally friendly to produce, make this one a clear winner.

I'd say they've scored a home run, and we can expect to see a lot of other advances made like this, in the very near future.

And hopefully with few ingredients from China...like much of the rare earth metals now.

These magnets are just the beginning and, soon enough, they'll be making magnets out of anything.

Think of the things I can stick to my refrigerator now....I have these tiny REMs, they are amazingly strong.

You can levitate frogs too, so they catch more flies.

I found it amusing that they showed the wound rotor of a PM motor, not the magnets in the picture..

Magnets are shy, and refuse to sign release forms.
