What surprises me is that some that come on for 10, 15 years and even longer--and just stop checking in.

the socio-cultural political world, started "going insane" shortly after the invention of agriculture.
not the the invention was a bad idea itself. nor did it lead directly to the insanity.
but it did provide a fraimwork and basis and opportunity for it to happen.
the hierarchialization of social organization and the "normalization" thereof, being the engine of dislogic, so to speak.

the more recent and violent aspects of cultural insanity currently familiar, did not yet however, become dominant or taken for granted,
until after ragun's presidency, though the began creaping into the open much sooner. maybe they'd always been there,
but the world did seem, calmer and more dignified before then.

the denial of the ligitimacy of dignity as a concept, well i'm in the u.s. and from what i've heard this varies grately from one place to another on the rest of the globe,
really seperates the america i was born and grew up in, from what it has seemed like since.

this is not to deny that a lot that is good has been gained too, and a lot of the bad, if not entirely left behind, at least recognized for what it was.
so we have this, both things moving in opposite directions at the same time, which is both hopeful and frightening at the same time.

i manage to stay, what is stable in my own context, though perhaps not so sane in a more global one,
it hasn't for example, brought me most of the aspects the ambient culture takes for granted,
by generally avoiding emotional dependence on companionship with humans

It's no measure of health to be well - adjusted in a profoundly sick society.
