Mundane topic, I know, but it's the Random Thoughts forum, so I am wondering what your favorite type of sunglasses are. Do you prefer the small, round "hippy" style frames, the larger aviator style of the 70s and 80s, or do you prefer a more modern, sleek/sporty look? This question applies to both the men and the women of the forums. Feel free to show us your own sunglasses if you wish. Me, personally? I often go for the larger, retro looking 70s/80s style frames.
i have some 10 dollar ones from h&m that i wear in the car when driving to work but i also have some oakley ones that were pretty expensive that i wear outside. these are what the h&m ones look like
I wear oakleys but only because they're a full wrap around pair of glasses. I've had a lot of eye issues and surgery that's left me ridiculously light sensitive so I wear sunglasses all the time. People find it rude when I talk to them with sunglasses on. If I took them off I'd look retarded and my eyes would water almost instantly. So yeah unfortunately I need expensive ones to help me out.
they do not look cool. they look dumb and ignorant. in some contexts menacing perhaps, but whatever they're intended to be, when worn as a fashion statement, they just make anyone doing so look like an idiot. of course if you're eyes really are overly sensitive, like if you've just had eye surgery or something, then they're like any other medical appliance. but that's really an extreme exception. i mean you might as well wear a pair of empty frames, all painted up weird with odd little dots and swerlies or something.
man you are always so negative!! UV rays are actually pretty damaging to the eyes. i think eye doctors recommend that everyone wear sunglasses that block UVA and UVB rays to protect their eyes from damage.
i like cheap sunglasses i don't like how oakely's (or that style in general) look on me. they make me look like i have bug eyes. i don't really like aviators either. i have some shitty 10 dollar pairs that i got from....a shop in NYC several years ago, uni-mart from my hometown....and another pair. people always rip on my sunglasses. they aren't cool. but i'm cool enough without cool sunglasses :afro: they kinda make me look like a state trooper
lmao like ive said before you seriously find everything negative. is there ANYTHING you can talk positively about?? besides toy trains
UV rays are exactly what caused my eye conditions as I was an apprentice boilermaker at the time and always behind a welding rod. My eye specialist actually told me that Australia is the wrong country for a bloke with my complexion to be living in. I never wore glasses much before the surgery, now I'm on them constantly. She said my eyes, skin and hair were just to fair to be living in a country with such extreme UV rays.
I wore round purple shades throughout high school. Otherwise I never wear them because I figure it looks silly. But I definitely need a pair in the car for sunny days...
just as a guess, i would also imagine they recommend not staring into the sun. no. i'm not always negative. i'm always negative about gratuitously conventional ostentation. mundaneness is for twits.
I rarely ever wear sunglasses unless I’m at the beach or shoveling snow and when I do I wear polarized lens :coolgleamA: hotwater
simply not staring directly into the sun doesn't mean sunlight doesn't enter your eye. do you think people wear sunglasses so they can sit there staring at the sun?! you don't like "gratuitously conventional ostentation" (you sound like a douche by the way) and you are gonna find fault with sunglasses for this?? just because some people buy flashy, $300 sunglasses doesn't make sunglasses in general a display of wealth. what about a house, what about clothes? you can have modest or flashy versions of each...but they are kinda necessary
generally speaking, that is my impression of people who think wearing them makes them look cool. yes.
Exactly, I don’t wear them to look cool. I just don’t want to come down with a case of snow blindness. Hotwater
