Well, what is on everyone's list of books to read this summer? Personally, I have none of the list, beacuse I've been so busy with school. But I might read few, if someone lists some good ones.
Right now reading "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" on my TBR list are: The Lovely Bones and after that i'm not sure! LOL
I aquired a book with a bunch of Gothic literature, which is stuffed with Poe, HG Wells, and it also has Dracula, Frankenstein, Picture of Dorian Grey, and then Jekyll and Hyde (which I've read before). I got a lot on my plate.
I've never read "The Color Purple," although I read a short story by Alice Walker for one of my classes a few months ago. That's by Alice Walker, right?
There have been some good sugestions in here. Right now, I am reaidng "Along Came a Spider," by James Patterson. It's good.
Been reading quite a bit of poetry lately. Also, I just started Paulo Coehlo's "The Fifth Mountain" which is, I believe, an expanded, fictionalized story about the prophet Elijah. Pretty good so far. On my list for the near future are "The Sacred Balance" by David Suzuki and "Life of Pi" by... well I forget the author. I may also read "Dharma Bums" again if I run out of other stuff.
I want to read the Life of Pi. I have only heard a little bit of it when someone else was reading it.
Oh man. You don't want to hear what I have to read this summer. Bulking up for my GRE's. Short list: -The Iliad -The Odyssey -Pride and Prejudice -Atlas Shrugged -Brave New World -Jane Eyre and it goes on...
GREs? What masters program are you trying to get into? Or, at least that's the only thing I know that GRE scores are used for. Best of luck to you!
I'd love to lay my hands onto a copy of Dharma Bums, and Life of Pi was quite enjoyable. :3 I've still got it laying around my bedroom somewhere. This summer I'll be attempting to work my way through a rather long list of books I've accquired and have yet to devour. Anne McCaffrey - The Skies of Pern, (finishing) Damia's Children, Lyon's Pride Robin Hobb - Ship of Magic Tanith Lee - Piratica George R. R. Martin - A Game of Thrones Frank Herbert - Dune Douglas Adams - The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy 'trilogy' (all 5 books recently received as a gift! ^_^ I've read them all two or three times before and yet cannot resist the temptation to read them AGAIN!) HOLY SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY, BATMAN!
"No-one here gets out alive" (Sugerman/Hopkins) "In cold blood" (Capote) "Been down so long it looks like up to me" (Farina) "Heaven and Hell" (Huxley)
If I have more time after those then "The Mask of Red Death" (Poe) "On the road" (Kerouac) "The Catcher in the Rye" (Salinger) are also on the list.
