For me it's The Beatles, some Syd barrett music, definitely Jefferson Airplane, definitely Donovan, definitely Incredible String Band. Also, most Celtic/new age music is good for the summer (and autumn). I think The Summer Day Reflection Song By Donovan is just ideal though.
a lot of the tracks from "...and out come the wolves" by rancid... at the river - groove armada old weezer stuff...the sweater song, holiday, my name is jonas, say it ain't so... really bad trance...like come with me - special D Children of the night - Nakatomi Be cool - Paffendorf Free - Starsplash True love never dies - Flip and Fill ahhh...i love my terrible dance music...
There's nothing quite so summery as that jingle jangle morning you find yourself waking up to the the Byrds singing "Hey Mr Tambourine Man!"
Donovan, Coldplay, Zeppelin, Floyd, Sublime... Donovan's "Riki Tivi Tavi" and Zeps "Over the Hills and Far Away" are the bset summer songs EVER.... And maybe Sublimes "Scarlet Begonias" :d
I've always thought of Nick Drake's music as having a somewhat Autumn/Winter feel to it myself... Different strokes for different folks I guess..
I would have to go with the good old Jane's Addiction! Particually 'Summertime Rolls', 'Idiots Rule' and 'To Match The Sun'
I think one album I'm going be playing a lot over the summer is the new one from The Streets, "A Grand Don't Come For Free". I was impressed with 'Original Pirate Material' but this, for me anyway, blows that one away! It's a concept album of sorts, having Mike bumming about wondering where his £1000 has disappeared to. But obviously there's much more to hear about his journey. Anyway, I was looking around online to try and find some samples and on The Streets site itself you can listen to the entire album! http://www.the-streets.co.uk Check it, it rocks
Summer Breeze- The Iseley Brothers. Summer The First Time- Bobby Goldsboro School's Out - Alice Cooper Touch Me In The Morning - Diana Ross Sunshine On My Shoulders - John Denver Lovin' You - Minnie Ripperton Walking In Rhythm - The Blackbyrds The Hustle - Van McCoy Moonlight Feels Right - Starbuck The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy Loads more- but I'm sure that's enough
what did you think of the new zero 7 album???? i thought it was pretty good, but not as amazing as the first...
Yeah, 'tis very good to sit and chill to. Have you heard any of Nitin Sawnhey's album Prophesy? its amazing, similar to zero 7, but with more of an Indian sound.
My boyf got me into Bob Marley this weekend after I bought him the new DVD he's been wanting and now I'm hooked. Perfect summer music!
REGGAE!!!!!! Indie! Ska! Rock!! I also am partial to listening to the following (which happen to be current favourites) Gomez, The Streets, The Verve, The Gorillaz, The Kinks, Pixies for chillin in the sun
did anyone get gomezs new album yet? i'm really enjoying it, not quite as much as i loved bring it on...and time will tell how it measures up overall, but for sure once again theyve made a thoroughly splendid album... favourites so far being extra special guy, do one, nothing is wrong and catch me up wonderful all the new albums...need to save for the beta band
