That's one thing I hated about cloudy days in Vancouver, the mountains disappear! They're so majestic, it's a shame when they hide.
I commiserate about the rain. When we first moved to Vancouver, we walked out of the train station (we had taken a scenic train route from the Prairies where I had stopped to see a friend) and the view of the mountains hit us like a ton of bricks. I think it was June 1st and a beautifully sunny day. The next day it rained, and it continued to rain for the rest of June! It was cold and wet and no mountains in sight. We wondered what we had gotten ourselves into. Luckily in July the sun came back out and the rest of the summer was spectacular. We ooh'd and ahh'd over the mountains for a couple of years. Then you start taking them for granted. I sure missed them when I left though.
It ALWAYS rains in June......always always always. It rains quite a bit in Jan/Feb, but I don't really mind anymore. I guess I'm just used to it. Having a big umbrella and some quality rain boots does help as well.
Beautiful day at the lake today. An elderly woman at the lighthouse was happily feeding the flock of birds that gathered for the feast she was doling out.
campsite from a few weeks ago: a hummingbird fucking landed on my friends leg! my brother and i: dirty heads and sublime with rome concert:
Yeah ash, we always go Creek walking or swimming if it's deep enough. This year the water was pretty cold though, especially since I didn't have a towel with me
well, i had a towel, but it was back at the tent. we took a hike up the creek and played in the waterfall/swimming hole and i just neglected to bring it with me then. when i got out of the water, i was quite cold - had to bask in the sun and have minor convulsions (shiver) until i warmed up again.
