Not officially summer for another day but here we go. It's hot as Hades anyway. Everyone here is suffering from the sudden heat. It's when it goes from near freezing to 35C in days that it gets you. So there were a lot of people at the lake last night. It was a wonderfully breezy night by the water with a bright moon and beautiful colours in the sky.
Taking good pics of the moon is harder than it appears to be! Nice job I'm certain it looked even better 'irl', same with the pink clouds (not meaning to be critical, just going by my own experience )
Absolutely. The pics never turn out the same as what my eyes see. Especially twilight photos which tend to turn out grainy.
Nice picture but whenever I see the Genesee River I can’t associate it with anything other than Arthur Shawcross Hotwater
It looks exactly like the forests around here too (upstate SC, western NC) Except that white and pink flower - what is that? I'm pretty sure I saw the same flower in bloom around here over a month ago
I don't know what the little white and pink flower is. I only know the rhododendrons(in the gorge...as far as flowers go). That particular rhododendron, in the second to last pic, was the only one that I saw in bloom the other day - and it was a six hour hike with rhododendron trees everywhere.
This is one of my favorite pics of that day... It was right along the trail. I've never seen such a large specimen in this shape this close to the trail. It's hard to tell how big it is in the pic, but it was pretty big.
It's Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia). It starts blooming in May, so it could be what you saw. It's in the picture just above too, you can see the whole shrub there. That's gorgeous. Great pic! I love oyster mushrooms. Did you have some for dinner that night? :-D I'm feeling a bit peckish now.
This is the reality of my summer right now. Very grey, classic Juneuary in Van. At least it isn't cold.
