The only way you know it is true is if you try it on. Did god speak his name to moses in english? If you changed the form of his name, If that form is sanctity, then it is not the same name.

 

Whether I do or not does not change the fact that the "love" you recommend is but a meager imitation of the Love that Jesus showed when he "surrendered" his life for others.

 

Your belief that things are alive that are not alive, and your belief that things alive are dead, is not trivial in the effect it has on your perception. I am stating facts, that you find it nitpicking is only to preserve the error.

I find it is nitpicking because it is nitpicking.

If you don't want to believe what the Bible "says" that is up to you but as for me I'll stick with what God "says" to me in his word the Bible.

 

I am going by your descriptions. If god said his name was the tetragramatron, translated as yahweh, and then translated again as jehovah, you find gods name to be changeable. The name I am, does not change it's constitution, said in any language.

 

Quite frankly if you do not want to follow God’s commands just because the Bible doesn’t “speak” to you, that is up to you, as for me I will do what God’s word the Bible “says” for Christians to do.

 

There is a difference between me believing what the bible says to me and you believing what the bible says to you. I do not begrudge your belief, I only say that your belief has certain effects on your perceptions, predictable effects.

God did not ever say his name was the tetragrammaton, he told his servants what his name was and those servants wrote that name with the four consonants YHWH or יהוה in Hebrew and thus the term tetragrammaton, which just indicates that God's name was written with four letters.

That name, יהוה is found in the Bible over 6000 times and God says that this name is his name to time indefinite.

How many times do you think God said his name was "I am"? How many times did God say my name is "I am" to times indefinite? Did God really ever say his name was "I am" or is that just a mistranslation of the original languages?

Your objection to the translation of the name into English as Jehovah doesn't carry much weight, seeing you don't object to the use of the name Jesus which is an English translation of Yeshua or Yehohshua in Hebrew, which you don't use and may not have ever heard or known.

So which "name" do you think God wants us to use? One that may have been used one time or maybe twice depending on who you ask or a name that is used over 6000 times and one that God says is my name for times indefinite?
