Gay marriage would never have passed without the support of straight people. It was a major milestone that was long overdue. And while we hear the occasional story about some Luddite who said something hurtful to a gay couple, we don't seem to have any objections about gay marriage except from a few vocal church groups and even fewer non-church groups.

A straight pride parade doesn't automatically means it's "anti-gay". Regardless of the aims of the promoters. When enough people together, a collection of common dynamics sweep through a crowd. Personally, I would not attend something like this because it's clearly stupid. But it's still their right to express themselves, unmolested by assholes who want to make everything about violence and hostility.

I've said before that it's moronic to think you can fashion a debate FOR marijuana by being AGAINST tobacco or alcohol. It's counter-intuitive.

So what would we call a debate that's FOR gay marriage, but AGAINST straight people (it even looks stupid in ascii)?

I think we're a lot further into acceptance than so many gay advocates want to admit. And why should they? It would mean fewer clicks and fewer ad views. But that's the media discussion..........

 

Straight people at the Straight Pride march, or just straight people in general. Because I suspect there is a difference.

 

It will require decades to get the technology right, but they will become indistinguishable from people. Already they are closing in on manipulating your brain waves like a Swiss watch, tuning it for different purposes, and have located the exact spot in your brain that will make you cream your jeans. The AI have turned out to be much better and more reliable than people for predicting what people want. We will even have a version of Woody Allen's "Orgasmitron". Stuff Isaac Asimov never wrote about.

 

Can't have a gay pride without a straight pride.

That would be discrimination.

But as a gay female ill say this, gay couples and folks don't actually care when people are straight. We literally don't care hey. So if the straight pride is meant to be a slap in the face to gay community, It doesn't work because we don't expect anybody to be gay.

I agree with you fully. I have worked with a lot of gay people in the theater over the years and it was often months before about their orientation, in one case more than 10 years.
Whatever their orientation, people who feel that they need to tell you about it within the first few hours, are normally a pain in the ass.

 

So I just read about this guy who to be a huge advocate of conversion therapy and was a conversion "therapist" or whatever they're called
He came out as gay recently and apologized for his part in conversion therapy

Which just proves my theory that anyone who gives too much of a shit about this sort of thing is probably gay themselves
And no one can convince me otherwise. They're in the closet, all 100 people who showed up at the straight pride parade

 

I was actually in downtown Boston on Saturday and what you don’t see are the barriers that were put up along the parade route by the police to protect the marchers from the protesters.
There were thousands of protesters along the route shouting obscenities at the marchers.
