And I'm fascinated how every religion can counterdict each other, and you appear not to be concerned about the truth of the matter at all. Only feelings. Also can you answer me this one? If God is God, why did God say let US make man in OUR image? (Gen. 1:26.) Who is Us and ARE IMAGE refering to, if God is singular?
There is a prophecy in Daniel 9:26, that states that the Messiah will be killed before the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. Also, the Bible is not big on dates but speaks of world conditions. If God chooses to wait 1 year or 2000 years that His decision to make. And if you look at what the Bible states about the Return of the Jews to Israel. It clealry states this event will take place, in the latter years.
???what kind of bloody insane mad stupid idiocy is this??? What on earth is this cave-man blood sacrifice crap?? It's no wonder the world is so thoroughly fucked up! Thanks Christians!!
Ok. From what I have been viewing it seems that people are getting wrapped up in a fight over words rather than definitions and verses rather than messages. Christianity(don't let the name fool you) is not worshiping only the Son of God. Although Christianity celebrates the Son of God we worship God through Jesus as our High Priest(Hebrews explains this). Christianity has a lot more to do with Judiasm than even Christians care to know about. I respect the Jewish people because my Lord was also Jewish. But let me also state that to be "Jewish" is more than just a "religion"(although that is what many people have formulated it to be). Not everyone can just be Jewish be decent. You can be a Jew by blood and not a Jew by practice. Now, having stated that, it is possible also for a Jew to be a believer in Jesus as the Christ(Messianic Jew). They are still a Jew by blood but a follower of Christ as their new nature. Now I could sit here and pull up Bible verses and passages left and right. But I am not going to do that. The truth is that everyone will always be fighting about words and verses and ideas no matter how many I bring up. But I would like to say this: That Jesus was called the Word of God made flesh. He never did anything apart from the Word of God. Some might argue and say that he did not "obey the sabbath". But if you carefully looked at his judgement and character, the thing that always led him was "What would please the Father?" He was led by compassion. So back to Jesus being the Word of God. Although he did not sin, he was human and had to face the weaknesses that humans face. He was hungery at times, thirsty, tired, grieved, etc. Does that make him less than the word of God? No. It means that he was the Word of God made FLESH(key word "flesh"). So then... the Word of God in written form is still prone to weaknesses. Not that God and His Word are not perfect. But the actual literature itself is human literature. That is due to have some minor word weaknesses. God didn't want us fighting over the words or phrases. It was given as His message, will, and promise to Man. If you look at the message, you will see no weaknesses, no holes, no errors. What error do you see in "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life through him"? God the Father is the giver of eternal life through His Son that He provided. We didn't provide it. He did. What error is in the message of the love of God? What error is in the message of God's will for man to be holy as He is Holy? And some say that God is a "mean guy in the sky" because he is wrathful towards men who are unrepentant... well how "loving" would God be is he did not judge sin? What about the people who were the victims of that sin? Just like the human court system, we must have fair judges and punishment for wrong-doing. But God, in His great love towards man(knowing that we are not a people who can live 100% righteoussly) provided His Son to take the punishment for the sins that we committed toward him and towards men. Where is the error in His love? I don't see it. I am not a Jew by blood, I am not a everyday "Christian", I am not a religious person. This is my testimony, that I am a follower of Christ in the aspect that he has shown me how to live before the Father. I have recieved the Holy Spirit of God that gives me the power to walk as Christ walked and to please the Father by living a life of truth and love. It does not matter what title I have on earth, but the name that the Father gives me. It does not matter how you or I see eachother, but what the Father sees when he looks upon us. Does he see someone whose sin is washed away, or someone who still bares the blemish of sin? does He see a hypocrit that knows the truth but refuses to walk in it? or does he see a faithful servant carefully leading others in the truth with love? What does He see when He looks on you?
Ummm...no...Moses is not God. A Jewish person who accepts Jesus as the Messiah is not considered to be Jewish anymore. And don't even bring up J4J. Their methods are decietful and borderline hateful. A lot of things offend me. And I sometimes wonder why God allows certain things to happen, but my faith as a Jew is strong enough to see past that, just like it is strong enough to survive living in a redneck town full of bigots who keeping trying to "save" me.
Dude, the way you are making it sound is that only Christianity is the "true" religion. That is bigoted and wrong on so many levels. Each religion is fine and no religion is better than any other religion. The problem is that Xians think that their religion is the best and that they need to hate other religions. So they come up with groups like Jews for Jesus, which uses deceit, hate, and cult-like methods to lure vulnerable Jews. It's sad, really. Your second question should really be directed toward a rabbi. It's theologically deep and require more explanation than I can provide.
ohh. That's too bad. Why? To be the son of man you must believe that you were the son of man instead of the son of God... Off topic but- On Jewfaq.org (right site?), the Jewish description of God is the closest one that I have read to my own personal experience of God, although a few points seem to be slightly off...
Erh.. what? The whole messiah thing is basically 'Jesus is the only way to God', that's what the whole saviour thing is about.. without acknowleding Jesus as a part of the Holy trinity, the son of God ànd your personal saviour.. well.. you're screwed. According to Christians that is. Jews don't buy that and stick with the OT.. and since they don't think that Jesus had anything to say when it comes to who's in and who's out when it comes to the eternal life, according to themselves, they are perfectly fine the way they are, no need for 'saving'. So.. different point of view.. same sheep, different wool
Because that is just the way it is. Jews don't believe Jesus was the Messiah. A Jew who excepts Jesus as a Messiah is no longer Jewish...they are Xian. This, btw, is fine, but they are no longer Jewish and should except that fact. However, if they are pressured into this change by J4J that is definately not cool. What points seem to be slightly off? Also, have you ever thought about talking to a rabbi? If the Jewish description of God is close to your own experience of God, you should really explore that more.
Something I wondered.. can a non-jewish person convert to Judaism and become a real part of that community (and one of the 'chosen' people) or do you have to be a 'hereditary Jew' to be one of the chosen ones?
Yes, they can. Let me put it this way, once you finish the conversion process you are as Jewish as the next Jew.
So this is part of the definition of Jewishness, that Jews do not accept that there has been a messiah? It is this statement that lacks logical coherence, unless this statement is modified: I agree with this part of the statement. I disagree with this part of the statement based on the fact that God can and does specifically interact with man to create understanding of certain aspects of God and what God does. God intends man to understand God the way man does, even if there is always another way God can portray something to man. God can and does cause a certain understanding of God to arise within our hearts and minds, even if this understanding is incomplete. God can and will cause us to have a complete understanding of God and our relationship with God. Planting seeds for God, ehh? I will talk to a rabbi when God brings me one. I only eat thoughts that God brings me. If it is to be.
Really? Hm interesting. My only source of information is ehm.. whatshername from Sex & the City.. she became a Jew. Not that I'm interested in becoming a Jew or anything.. but still, it's an interesting thought.. that you can choose to become a part of 'the chosen people'.. so you can choose to be chosen, or sth like that. If you are a guy, does it mean you have to get circumsized as well? Eek.. that would be rather unpleasant.. hehe.
Exactly. We don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah. And I wouldn't, as you say, "plant seeds for God". I simply suggested talking to a rabbi because your questions are very deep and need to be answered by one.
The Old Testament stated that the Messiah would come and be killed before the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. Only Jesus Christ fullfilled the 300 prophecies of the Old Testament. The Old Testament stated that He would be rejected by His own people. No one will be perfectly fine if they reject Gods Son. He is the only one that has the authority to forgive sins. There is no other person with that authority.
Oh, so all religions are true even if they counterdict each other, and the only bad religion is Jews for Jesus. Wow, do you ever think about what you are saying? And I guess all the Jews of the Bible were bigoted and wrong, because they were not politically correct. I have been a Christians for 44 years, and hate has never entered into my faith. It is my love for Christ that has led me to have a love for the Jewish people. Faith in Christ has nothing to do with political correctness. The reason Israel has such support from America today, is because there are so many Christians that support them. And you have one person to thank for that support. The one person the Jews hated is the same person that has motivated millions of Americans to support Israel. And that persons name would be, Jesus Christ.
Good post Rasa. Only wish more here could understand what you are saying. But then again, you have to have a real desire to know God, and as you can see, most donot.
yesss... and like I said (and someone else here said it before and better), Jews don't believe Jesus is their Messiah.. they are still waiting for one as far as I know. But I'm not a Jew so I think someone else can probably explain it to you better. Jesus is your saviour, not theirs.
