^dude was just horrible to his fans.

but, as a musician, I think he was just technically and artistically uninspired. but I'm not a fan of watered down, basic tunes, so to each their own.

 

I cant watch streaming video, But I guess ill leave you to your opinions.

 

Well we can all agree that he played the guitar and at least knew a variety of chords and was able to keep time. Which is more than I can say for a lot of guitarists I know.

So he was horrible to his fans because he didn't want to play the hit single song one time on video... a song that catapulted him into a career that he eventual grew to mistrust and distain? He didn't want to be "the voice of his generation"

If you read up on Dylan he said the exact same thing, and in fact in last years 60 min interview he said he purposely changed his voice on each album to detract fans...

I'm not sure it matters anymore, some people can only listen to people displaying fast-driven solos with extreme-level technique like Yngwie Malmsteen, or Paul Gilbert, or Satriani, or Vai. But too me a lot of that music seems to be exactly the kind of competitive, sport loving, i can play faster than you, kind of attitude that makes their music seem boring and souless. It doesn't have that honest ring of truth to it... I feel like Nirvana if nothing else had that... you see it in interviews and shows... he was just a man... trying to do what he wanted to do... honest and plain spoken... songs from the heart. I like NIRVANA. (I also secretly like to listen too Vai.)
