That's idiotic. Music shouldn't always be happy, and you have no right to say whether or not someone "should" be depressed. Depression is a mental disorder, not a decision. And I really have nothing more to say about your "at least it's happy" statement... It's just such a stupid thing to say.
So I guess you think youre better because you avoided bullets. Believe going overseas is the same kind of hell if youre living with depression. It's even worse, because your own enemy is yourself. You could run away from your enemies in the war, but anybody with depression can't run away from themselves. It's a constant battle of which side of me is going to win.
I don't care why anyone is depressed but the fact is millions upon millions of people are suffering severe depression right this second, but you know what, most won't kill themself, let alone when they have a wife and a new born child.
Yeah, In Utero. I Grew up on that album. I actually think Nevermind is very boring. I apreaciate Nirvana. And if Kurt killed himself, who cares. he was a good musician in his time. it just shows you what haroin + depresseion + fame & money can do. only thing that im annoyed about is the birth of Foo Fighters. Grohl was an awsome drummer, then all of a sudden this... i'm sure their a good band for whoever may like them, but i personally find it very boring. not my style...
I completely agree. It's pretty much a sellout band. I mean sure there are some good songs ("Everlong" is good in the beginning) but it has none of the spark that Nirvana had and it's so hit-driven that it just makes me want to fall asleep. And yet some people do. You have no right to say whether or not he was in enough pain to kill himself. There was the depression, the heroin addiction, the media hounds, issues with his wife who seemed to move beyond their relationship, leaving him feeling worthless*, undiagnosed stomach pain. See if you can endure all that. Plus, he was higher than a fucking kite when he did it. What was it, three times the normal dose of heroin? You can't for even one second tell me that's a recipe for coherent behavior. *don't think I'm one of those Courtney love haters. I'm actually listening to Hole's first album right now
foo fighters - ONE BY ONES A GREAT ALBUM!!! okay yeah they are a bit more commercial than nirvana, but so what, it gets more kids to listen to nirvana and thatll bring them into more grunge
It is the same argument to back Kurt Cobain's decision to end his life as it is to condemn him for it. It is quite another thing altogether, when we realize that acceptance and tolerance of others' opinions is quite "hip" in itself, and may be more important than our prideful definitions of the truth regarding one man's life and legacy. Anyone else agree with me?
I agree that it's basically none of our business and we shouldn't judge it either way. That we should .. just accept and tolerate it, as you said. I don't think it was a "good" idea for him to kill himself, but I don't blame him for it or think it invalidated everything he was or stood for in the long run. It was sad but didn't really affect anything that came before, in my opinion, except maybe make him more visible in away. Although to be honest, when I first heard of Nirvana and started listening to them, I didn't know he had killed himself and was looking forward to seeing what came after Nevermind and In Utero :O
