already happens all the bullshit, pointless, money-grubbing lawsuits out there getting huge media attention "it's a corporations fault my fat ass eats so much" or "why the fuck should I bother to look for bright yellow cheese sticking out of my burger if I am deathly allergic when I can just get sick and sue?" I would be thoroughly suprised if any cases looking for any real justice instead of just trying to kick up a profit would get any attention at all but hopefully, if your plan works out, I will watch about your cases ont he news some day I just hope you don't put all your resources into a client such as this cause he was obviously, himself in the wrong and whether the cops were morally wrong for tasering him or not, it seems to me they were completely within legal bounds I took Psych in 11th grade too
I wouldnt be litigating against corporations like that. Criminal defense and suing in civil for the right reasons, not loot
Right... I hope one day we can all live in a police state nation, where we can all sit by idly and watch as our rights get raped just like you seem to enjoy so much... oh wait, we already do
if thats not considered resisting, i dont know what is i'm done with this discussion as i'm not really willing to delve into the phsycological aspects of this when in the end I stand by my stance on the whole thing and i'm truely getting tired of these stale arguments in the forums. and you people who hate the "pigs" your right, we should definatly live in a society where there is little to no law enforcement, everything will be better and life will be filled with bliss and joy.
Thats cool man, but seriously, just know that the police here are out of fucking control... It really sucks when the police get a hard on by fucking up someones life. If its true, that you dont have that so much in Canada, then I envy you.
once again, claiming we already live in a police state, is only demeaning the fact that some day we might, and we have to be on the look out and watch out for it as I've stated numerous times, I don't think this situation is one we need to criticize, those protesters getting detained for reading the constitution is a lot more solid of an example of wrongful police work but people should be aware to watch out for themselves and their rights but when you go around claiming that we live in a police state people are just going to roll their eyes at you, and the more and more they hear it, they will just stop listening we are NOT in a police state, we SHOULD do what we can to stop that from happening, making claims that we already are, is going to make less people listen, and destroy our (people who think outside the box) credibility, and make us lose any chance of reaching the majority
Dude the canadian cops arent different. They have different laws than us and one of those (marijuana related) was put in limbo by the SC of Canada. The cops up there are just as mean and hateful in some places.
theres some mean ones and some nice ones everywhere you go theres gonna be the cops who let it slide and the ones who feel like being assholes we just have a better ratio up here
Why do you try to talk about things of which you clearly have no knowledge in? you do realize there are numerous different leagues and disctricts of police in Canada right? it's not all just RCMP, even the RCMP have no authority in some districts.. sorry i dont live in delapadated slums where police NEED to be brutal and overforcefull, i think there were a total of 28 homicides total in Vancouver last year for a city of 2.5 million people, i'd say thats fairly good I feel sorry for you living in a Country/City where you must be fearfull of the police and look at them as a hinderance rather than a help. going on about "Canada this" and "Canada that" you hit on it like lax drug laws and a pathetic excuse for a judical system is a bad thing in your eyes, from the sounds of it you would fit right in here Me on the other hand, i'm down with capital punishment and locking up scum for good, if Vancouver wasnt so nice, and the states economy so shit, maybe i'd consider moving there...but...probably not
police for the most part are on our sides they just think differently about drugs than us im glad theres plenty of police in edmonton otherwise known as deadmonton twenty somethin homicides this year so far almost 40 last year over 40 the year before
The kid has the right to resist an illegal arrest. Any time a cop takes you in, you have the right to know what the fuck is going on. The kid knew this. He repeatedly asks (why am I being arrested) and they never tell him, that's wrong. This situation is sickening. Everyone of those officers should be fired for life, what a terrible call on their part.
I'll admit I dont know about it since Ive never been or lived there. But I have looked into vancouver extensively because of the weed scene, so I do probably know more about the local politics of van than you of florida. I do know that its not all RCMP, but from what I understand maybe most of them are. I read that a lot of the areas and provinces contract their police work out to the RCMP. So thats one major difference. You have a lot of federal cops running around, who might respect their jobs and role in society a little more, and can put crimes into context. In the US, we have sometimes 3-4 different police forces in a small area because of overlapping municipalities. Some of these places hire just about anyone. I studied martial arts with this dude who was absolutely INSANE. He would shock himself with one of those old school stun guns for fun. He cut his arm open, cut the finger tendons in half, then sewed it all back up himself with no anathesia. You could see the bumps moving under his arm when he moved his fingers.. And he is now a cop. A lot of people become cops because they 1) like guns, 2) like fighting, 3) hate "druggies" and "scum", 4) were nerds in high school, 5) want power over others, and 6) because they can't do anything else. So what it boils down to is we have an overabundance of uneducated, arrogant, angry, bitter, irrational, racist, and stupid cops. Ummm vancouver does have some slums as any other city does (isnt hastings street straight hood?), the fact is most of the stuff police do in the slums here they dont really NEED to do either. Its not about welfare or safety here. In the city I live in there is 1 million people and I'm not sure what the exact murder count was for 2006, but I know it had hit 100 by august of 2006. I think it was in the 140 range by the end of the year. And I doubt your justice system is more pathetic than mine bro. Three students at my university last week robbed two other students at KNIFE POINT and the state attorneys office is NOT PROSECUTING. Yet, if you grow a plant you go to prison for 5 years. I am also down with capital punishment for 2 out of 3 of the current capital offenses. Rape and murder, but NOT drug trafficking. That is just SICK. And I also am only in favor of it for situations that are BEYOND "beyond a reasonable doubt". As a result of DNA testing coming into the picture, I think something like 38 people have been acquitted while on death row. Some already killed. It's just fucked up. And what you don't realize chillin up there in peaceful land is that the mentality of "locking up the scum" is what CREATES the scum. Ever heard of the foribben fruit? Or the idea that you tell someone to do something they will do the opposite? Not to mention you have all sorts of social programs in canada that curb resentment and poverty, and helps reduce crime. Our system perpetuates it. And hey I feel sorry for myself in those ways too, but I guess you cant choose where you were born and what you were born into.
I'm sure man, my fault I wasnt trying to say they are all completely nice and carefree. Also I should have specified british columbia over alberta. I heard in alberta they can be pretty fuckin gestapo as well. Toronto sounds really good to me too.
I agree with deviate's statements, and have similar experiences with police in my area. My area is almost a main city and cops are mainly assholes for no reason. I don't immediately judge them, but I know most of the cops by now, and none of them make good judgements on any crime I've witnessed. I had my house put on a drug task force watch list because I was smoking hookah tobacco on my back deck, and held at gunpoint.
That not bad at all, Detroit had something like 354 for the 900,000 poeple living there. Out of every 100,000 people 40 were murdered.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv0a-5JUVX4 Interesting to say the least, cop mowed him down for throwing a beer can at someone.
