Driveway never did melt... Not expected to for quite some time. Propane guy had to prove to himself that he couldn't get down here... Why don't people believe me when I tell them the obvious?
So, Yeah.... Nobody posts in here anymore. And, then... This happened. 1974, Gibson SG Standard... Needs work, but it's all original parts,(sans a few knobs), original finish. It's a warhorse, for sure... (seller's photo... It's not here yet. Maybe tomorrow.)
Those have the pickups where you can make record-scratch noises like Tom Morello! I know those guitars. They're cool. That's a cool one.
I have a few SG's... This one would be the oldest. I have a near mint 1999 Gibson and a newer Faded from 2008. Also several Epiphone SG's (Epi is a subsidiary of Gibson) The SG tends to be the perfect guitar for the majority of what I play.
$150 on the low end for a starter guitar. The mid and upper tier is where it's at though... My 2020 SG' Custom was $550. Comparable Gibson would be $2500.
The 1974 Gibson SG is in the house... Now the fun begins. EDIT: I've already removed the neck... I knew it was cracked at the body joint but couldn't tell the extent of the damage... Some dimwit tried something they shouldn't have. Going to make it more challenging to repair. Previously repaired headstock break seems good....
The neck is glued back on... Had to add some new wood where the dimwit sawed through the neck joint with a handsaw.... Who are these idiots and why do they do this shit? Some people should be slapped hard enough for a factory reset...
I can't believe how cheap this guy is. I'm all for spending smart but this is ridiculous. I feel bad for his date. You got to show her she's worth it dude.
