I never said a word about Christ; no religion believes Christ is God, I'm talking about any religion that believes in God by the only definition you do, in other words, all religions that are actually relevant. But seriously, you're side stepping the entire topic and just throwing sticks into the spokes. Really? Let's see: common sense = logical conclusion scientific method = logical conclusion Therefor: common sense = scientific method Dude, go back and research the Glorious Revolution of England. If you gain any knowledge from it you will understand how our common sense is derived by the discovery of the scientific method.
Christianity is believing God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are all the same thing. If scientific method is a logical conclusion, then why do we need a fucking method for figuring it out?
I never said a word about Christianity or it's beliefs about God, you're putting words in my mouth and completely going off topic. But please, don't even get me started on Christianity. I mean seriously; don't you find the 'all powerful God' and the 'trinity' to be somewhat... contradicting? You don't get it. If we have any logical conclusion what so ever, then by definition it has been derived by the scientific method. 'Scientific method' is just a label.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Christ the son of God? He's not the centralized God in the religion. Actually, I'm dumbing down what most people don't have to even think about. You have no idea what the science or logical reasoning truly is so you obviously don't know what the hell I'm talking about. I mean seriously, I'm studying for a masters degree in physics, I know what the fuck I'm talking about.
If Christ, God, and the Holy Spirit are the same thing, then yes, he is the cenralized God in the religion. I already have my masters degree in physics...
Thank you for pointing out the biggest contradiction in Christianity. But this is besides the point, when I made the statement my intentions are very clear, you're just nit picking at every little thing I say to try and sound like you have some clue as to what I'm saying. If you're going to be making claims about your intelligence, let's start with graduating middle school first, ok?
Or maybe every little thing you say is infact incorrect? Now you have to resort to insults to cover up that what you've been studying for to get a masters in had been explained through common sense?
Yes this is probably it. Every scientist in the world, no, every person with half a brain is in fact wrong and you are right. My sincere apologies oh great 17 year old pothead, how could I have ever doubted you? Oh god, please stop, the irony is killing me.
Your insults really impress me. What is ironic about knowing that "RebelGray here would have probably never made it through childbirth, and if he were lucky enough chances are he would have died from from disease, lack of nutrition, etc." is completely false?
I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just trying to word it so you see how incredulous your claims are. You honestly think that you would have made it this far in an uncivilized world without the lack of knowledge? No ideas of even what a disease is, no way to make fire, only the basic animal instinct? Logic, science, is the sole differentiator between humans and animals. Where the irony truly lies is 1) you said I had to resort to insulting you. Besides the point that that was nothing more than a crude joke, you've been constantly insulting me this whole time while I've been trying to stay on topic. I do admit it is hard when logic has been thrown out the window. And 2) everything I've said has been proven countless times, whether or not a God exists is irrelevant. Whether science are God's rules or not, they are still the rules. Seriously, if you're taking this personally, then stop. I'm getting nothing more out of this than a friendly debate, if I'm really offending you in any way let me know and I'll stop.
i dont know what you two are argueing over. science is logic. science gets things wrong because we need premises for logic and we get premises from the universe, and because we dont know everythign about the universe, we cant have all teh premises. if it wasnt for science making mistakes, we would be ignorant to everything in teh world. most things in the universe have been descovered because the current belief at the time was making mistakes, which led people to find what they were missing as premises to their logic. the golden ratio is not a divine value, it is merely the only value that works. if any other value was used by nature it would crumble. the golden ratio as a discrete value has a unique feature. just like 'e' has a unique feature and 'pi' has a unique feature. numbers are just our way of comparing these things. geometry didnt exist before humans. before humans there was simply 'geo'. if you had a bucket filled with a hundred million bazillion stars and you pulled them out one by one, eventually you would get one that is the same as ours. whatever order you picked them out would be the order that was necessary for life. if you put them all back in the bucket and mixed them up and did it again, it would take a different number of stars and they would come out in a different order. but you WOULD again eventually result in a star that is like ours, of life-supporting qualities. no matter what, IF there is life ANYWHERE in the universe, then it is no longer a matter of chance. if the chance that is 'required' to support life is never met, then there would never be any chance-percieving entity (humans) to see that this is the case. the only way the universe can EVER be observed is if all the right circumstances occur, and therefor, there is not a 1/billion gazillion chance that our universe occured in the right way to support life, there is a 1/1 'chance'. because the only way we can consider this concept is if it is fulfilled. as for the original poster, as much as it seems amazing that theres a ball of energy supplying energy that we need to live, it is backwards thinking as far as the ways of the world go - there is no way life could be imagined without a [practically] eternally supplying source of energy, and thus it can be seen as mundane that the source of energy for all the complex and delicate systems on earth is a chaotic nuclear reaction (one of millions and trillions cluttering the universe. if stars were the currencies of the universe they would be worth less than grains of sand to us humans on earth) with enough fuel to burn for billenia.
damn, i don't even know what you two are going at it about, anymore. but of course science is gods law. but it's for nature to understand and follow, not us. i'm talking about all the trivial stuff, youre talking about the basic building blocks of civilization. like why the sun rises and sets, why gravity behaves the way it does etc. i really think to know that something IS going to happen is more important than knowing WHY it's going to happen. like animals don't understand the concept of gravity, but they still stop when they come to the edge of a cliff. science has given us important things, but most modern science really is silly. like wtf is so important on the moon? cheese? like i said before, i hate cheese
Honestly, I think the world, the media especially, is a pretty corrupted place. Bush is making a war on 'terrorism' and is locking up countless Muslims when he doesn't know the difference between a Shi'a and a Sunni. I have no problem with you're point of view and wouldn't want to impose mine upon you; I would just like you to be informed of the other side of the story, if you will, so you can decide your view accurately. When it comes down to it, it's your choice, it's your view, and it should be, I'd just hate for you to be set on one view because you never truly knew the other. I think kids fall into the beliefs of their parents because it's how they're raised; I'd like to see offspring break away from this and think for themselves. Sure, school and parents can help you along the way, but in the end it should be what you feel is right and what you truly believe in, ya know?
