    When you are stoned/high,
you can do everything you normally do, just as well as you always can...

You just realize it's not worth the fucking effort.

hey, i posted a thread about gateway drugs, how sometimes drugs can be gateways. to the topic starter, check it out if you want. i get what you are saying, i think everyone got so defensive though because it really is the minority that makes stoners "stupid." albeit unconventional at times, stoners do tend to be very intelligent. it just depends on personal experience, every person's experience with weed is just as unique as their experience with life so yeah, people will get mad when you make generalizations. anyway, my thread about gateway drugs, and there area few other threads i have posted but i cannot figure out how to view my own posts so i cant name them unfortunately, but basically i discuss misconceptions about weed being a gateway drug, and its similar to what you are saying i think, because while its rare for it to be one, the possibility is still there and after all this time of thinking alligations on weed and cigarettes to be simply ridiculous, they do provide some truth.

its kind of like... worst case scenario...
anyway, sorry for rambling and i know this topic was already closed but i just wantd to throw that in there, i think you raise some valuable points.
    peace

For example.. the grammar and topic of conversation in the stoner forum is really poor compared to the other forums.. everyone here talks about the same thing in hundreds of threads... and for some reason this amuses them.

Maybe you didn't notice that most of the threads are made by 13-16 year-olds.....
    Heh?

Some of these posts are pretty fucking ridiculous.

Yes, weed like other psychedelics can bring out latent mental illness in certain people. But the chances are barely significant. Its like a 6% increase or something of developing schizophrenia, which is already only 2% of the population. This is now a big public media campaign in britain, where they recently declassified cannabis and are trying to scare people away from smoking.

It is not a neurotoxin. Any effects on memory are acute and will go away when you stop consuming it. I think weed is virtually harmless, but I know what the poster was talking about. Chronic smoking can leave you spaced, believe me. It doesn't affect your level of intelligence, it possibly increases it. And I also dont think its entirely the effects of the plant that do that, a lot of people who blaze and stay active and healthy won't feel those effects.

Jadesmom, its not really that big of an accomplishment to smoke at night and still get your shit done. Its a little different when you are chronic, smoking 2-4 grams a day, and thats what the poster was referring to I believe. I think when you smoke that much you are more likely to spend more time under a low amount of external stimuli. such as sitting on the couch. I think that constant low level of stimuli can have just as much an effect on the speed of processing information as the herb. Everything is about balance.

I think it affects short term memory, but no detrimental effects and I don't believe it harms intelligence. It makes you think more. The human brain I think is capable of more than the human body can handle. It's said there are parts we don't access. I think pot allows us to use other parts of our brain that we normally couldn't because it's like a slow computer trying to run many large programs at the same time. The way I see it is like rooms. We occupy a main room that allow us to hold onto our thoughts better, and make more sense. But there are rooms where we have these wonderful epiphanies, but to go there you have to leave the other room. You don't get stuck there though. When you come down from the high, you go back to the main room. I think the human body isn't capable of functioning at this higher level like it is at the mid level, which is why the mid level is our normal state. But the higher level is something to be appreciated and the way it changes your perception of the world is a good thing. It just makes you slow down, take a step back and really look at everything.
I know a woman who's been a pothead for over 30 years. She very intelligent, she owns a successful business that she and her husband built from the ground up 30 years ago. I've never known her to be sober and she's an excellent speaker. She's raised three wonderful children.
Pot is like gymnastics. When you first try it you might be unsteady and trip a lot, but a seasoned gymnast can perform feats that a beginner can't. The more you smoke weed, the better your handle on the high becomes.
