technically chicken manure need a minimum of a year and 2 years if it freezes over winter.....I too use saw dust and chips but even with my small operation I need a manure pile to let is sit....after 2 years I should have at least 3 small ones

chickens naturally return to the coop every night no matter what....if someone has to actually round them up there has to be a problem in the coop....is there a perch for every bird?

Where I used to live was quite rural, all the surrounding farms sold chicken manure, seems it's good for your plants..

Lol I'm here to learn organic farming & get some R&R in nature after the divorce. It's not technically a commune. Classified as a work exchange program. Only permanent resident is the owner all others come & go. As to the manure I haven't seen any piles but they may just be hidden somewhere. The coop seems to have enough perches. Miss being able to smoke. Nice deal

How long until I should be able to tell male from female? I'm seeing 6 weeks online - sound right?

 

after the 5th node or after alternating nodes.....outdoor...indoor you need to flip...ive been pulling 3 to 4 males a day for about 2 weeks now.....I remember last year I went away the july first weekend and returned to find another 7 male plants I thought for sure was too late....

Is it worth buying feminized seeds? Do they grow normally other than being guaranteed female? Thinking ahead for next year.
