I haven't used one, but I would imagine that would be the case. It's an effort towards less single-use plastics though. I wonder how much of a difference it would make to have paper straws. I think my professor that I was talking about mentioned this. I think what she was getting at is that while it's still bad for the environment it may not be as bad as plastic straws. I should just ask for no straw, but I always forget. I used to go out to eat a ton as well, so plenty of opportunities. Now I'm on a diet and haven't gone out to eat in about a 1.25 months.

My sister was all about the plastic straws too and I didn't really get it. Like if she doesn't use them, that doesn't stop anyone else from not using them correctly. If I use one, I put it in the bin, bin gets collected, contents taken to the recycling centre.. Job done. How is me disregarding a straw any better for the environment though, it'll only work if straws are banned in their entirety.

So I kept using straw and she'd give me glares and lectures about turtles and I told her, well I'm doing the right thing, so no need to get uppity to me honey. I know she's trying to make a difference for her kids but at the end of the day, it don't matter what you do personally, if you're doing the right thing.

Its like the shopping bags. I take my own bags. So, no need to tell me about plastic bag waste and environment issues yeah? I don't use them. Same with the straw, I recycle it lol. My straw ain't ending up in a turtle and if it did, then that's a recycling issue.

Luckily in Germany, we take huge measures to look after the environment with our schemes and promotions to recycle such as taking your recycling to the depot and getting a voucher to help pay your grocery bills. I haven't read about the rest of the world but I think we are top notch.
