if you are doing vermicomposting (worm bin) then there is a liquid component you use separately, and diluted. the castings sold as a dry amendment is from the upper part of the bin. you dump the material and worms out, and put the worms into a newly prepared bin and start the process over again, using the castings you dumped out while the wormies make more.

ive looked into it. but i dont need another thing to get stuck maintaining. so we buy castings for now. and rock dust. and mycorrhizae (fungi amendment) hubby got compost tea bags too, so we can water with a nutrient dense mixture. hubby has ideas bigger than his britches.
