If you overlook a lot of his music that is sensitive and personal, than I'm sure you can describe him as pretentious, but including all his music gives us a better understanding of reality.

I don't know the extent of his street cred, but he worked with quite a few underground rappers.

He also got more volatile after he got shot the first time...

I think he was a talented musician.

I have a couple of CD s but don't know too much about him.

Didn't he have a thing with Madonna?

No, rolling called Morrison overrated and that was what I was reacting to. He was pretentious and other unpleasant things. But he rocked like a mofo. Great performer. And writer.

Well, I'm too big of an appreciator. Maybe Rollingalong wants to get into it.

I don't think Morrison was that fun to live or deal with. But his work is what I love. Don't have to live with him, so i just keep appreciating him for the music (impossible not to! :) )

I tend to not follow things people like so I never got into Tupac. That's what the smoker kids at school listened to, it wasn't fit for a sporty Goth. Used to line up at opposite ends of the concrete and pull faces at each other. Fucken gay ass Tupac shit. Fuck that shit and fuck them. :D

Only reason I ever knew the Changes song was ICP used the same music and flow so that Violent J could record a song for his mum on mother's day. I thought that was sweet, but wanted to hear the original.

Just some fool having a whinge.

Ive been to probably over 100 gigs by now and I slowed down in 2015 last time I saw ICP. They literally ruined any concert I'd been to, nobody puts on a show like them.

Now I go see 4 or 5 guys in a metal show playing guitar. Yeah cool...

2pac was able to address sociopolitical issues and other themes that seemed at least as genuine as any other rapper before him or since. I think his poetic tendencies elevated him above most anyone else in this respect. Like I like Public Enemy but perhaps due to Flavor Flav, some of the stuff seemed slightly campy (ICP is a different level of campy-ness). N.W.A brought topics in a rather crude manner.

ICP always did social and political problems they just used carnival metaphors quite cleverly too. They were the first people I listened to other than Green Jelly that just seemed fun and I could look under the lyrics to find out what was really going on and it was all positive.

Dude, ICP is a Christian band. :p from day one they preached God. The "Carnival" was God. Every bit of horror was directed at the unfaithful. I'd give you something to read but I know you won't. :p
