As long as its somewhat industrial it's not for me (besides the odd exception like Ministry - Psalm 69). I like it grim and frostbitten. Pagan, nature or chaos glorifying

 

I haaaate that speedy power metal or whatever it is with the exception of Sonata Arctica "howl with me".. I love that song.

 

Rammstein are tricky with their lyrics, they often use old German that can confuse people.

The song Du Hast was written using old Germanic wedding vowels however when the western world heard it they associated the word hast, with the German word Hasst which changed the complexity of the song from love to hate. I think it became such a running joke that they decided to record an English version using the wrong English lyrics.

So I always laugh when people try to sing to me

You hate me

 

I once was a lot more into fantasy themed power metal like Sonata arctica as well. Not that band in particular though.
Now it's mainly black metal with folky influences or folk metal with black metal influences

 

Actually there's a few Sonata Arctica songs I like but I can only listen for a couple of them and then I'm bored of it.

 

I never took notice of that english version and although my german sucks i never associated du hast with you hate! I can see how others did though

I have to be in the mood for it now, which i simply am far less often. Same with awesome (!) stuff like Dio - Holy diver, Richie Blackmores Rainbow and most of Iron Maiden. I used to be able to enjoy that most of the time, but now not anymore. I value these bands still to the same extent but enjoy listening to them far less often

 

Yeah same. In a totally different area that's how I feel about Blink182 and their kind. Every now and then I wanna dance to All the small things : ) but not often.

 

What about Dio's Sabbath stuff?

 

Thats John Mayer with the Dead and company. The song is Althea. Mayer does a fine job playing and singing that one..

Im thinking the gasoline lady was kerosene or diesel .. but why and what for.. Can see that is only one pump at the station, mixed gases are usually 3, kerosene and diesel stand on their own.. would explain why smell wasnt bothering here.. they stink but not as flammable as gasoline vapors.

I like the slang "dope" to describe something that's cool
"That's dope"

But I'm not sure I can really pull it off. It always feels like I'm trying too hard when I say it.
Maybe I'm not cool enough. I'm not dope enough.
I am awesome though.

I would probably just use different intonation.

 

I would just say awe inspiring.
I dont really attach the connotation of something being awe inspiring to the word awesome. I know that's the technical definition, but because of its use in American slang I mostly just think of it as a descriptor for something mildly cool. Mildly dope
