deff. one of my favorite blues guitarists ever. texas flood is amazing. so much talent. i think alot of his success came from being born at the time he was. he had his career in the 80's..which means he had so many musicians to learn from. you can tell in his style & show antics that he was influenced alot by hendrix & many other blues artists of the 50's 60's & so on. deff one of the greats.
My favourite guitarist. He never put a note wrong. I agree that 'Texas Flood' is amazing. Never heard blues played so well in all my life...except on his other three albums. 'Riviera Paradise' is quite simply the most beautiful instrumental ever, and 'Say What!' one of the most difficult. 'Rude Mood' is another personal favourite, as is 'Couldn't Stand The Weather'. His cover of 'Little Wing' is out of this world - much better than Hendrix's (yes, it is possible.) Then you must listen to 'Riviera Paradise', 'Couldn't Stand the Weather', 'Say What!', 'Aint Gone N' Give Up On Love', 'Little Wing', 'Lenny', 'Stang's Swang'.
Stevie was a true gift. A channel... The music just flowed through him, as Clapton once said... Such a sad loss. The blues isn't about being original or groundbreaking to me. It's all about feel. That's why players like Stevie, Eric, Greeny etc.. have got it when others just play fast licks and lose the vibe... You gotta mean it.
lol, you think I haven't heard these? Some of his most popular you have listed. Couldn't stand the weather is probably my favorite; I like Lenny when Krasno plays the shit out of it.
