He's a swiss... But aren't you sterotyping when you say "he"? But I don't think I'm stereotyping in my observation, that all americans wear t-shirts saying: "<--- with genius".
I've actually never heard the one about Finns carrying knives, but it's "common knowledge" (ehum) in Sweden that they always get so drunk that they vomit everywhere. Just like the stereotype of Swedes in Denmark I guess. In Finland, they think all Swedish men are gay. So it's a country of drunk gay men then? Man the women must be lonely up here... peace, -Pat
A friend of mine (she's Canadian) was visiting me this week and she was like where are all the stereotypical blonde hair blue eyed gorgeous Finnish guys.. Obviously she couldn't find any coz they're all in Sweden. That's one stereotype that Finns (well... Finnish women anyway) have of Swedes... Swedish guys are gorgeous. Gay, but gorgeous.
The danish stereotypical imagination of the male swede, is a man who's a bit premodern. They all got the horrible haircuts like the swedish 80's band "Europe", and they're all cruising around in american cars with big dices or 'Wunderbaum' in the front window. In Denmark we call such a missed style "Sonny", because people from the low social class often has english names like "Sonny", "Ronny", "Tonny", "Dennis" etc...
wow, danish stereotypes really varriate from place to place Down here we just say that swedes are drunk and the only people that drive worse than germans... Wich is odd, cause Danes drive really shitty
Yeah, danes really drive like shit. What do you think about the new 3-clip-system? I think it's really good. Take away the driver license from people who drive shitty...
Funny you should mention those names. In political science class a couple of years back, we looked at this study which showed that men with names ending with "y", ie Ronny, Konny, Tommy etc, are more prone to commit crime than other men. It was meant as an example of how statistics can be used to show false patterns, but the interesting thing about it was how it exposed the social class of men carrying those names, which was of course the real factor contributing to their criminality, rather than the names themselves... And yes, somehow I can't picture a "Sonny" without a mullet-type of haircut or at least a leather vest.
An other stereotype , for the french people we are still living in log cabins in the woods. For them, we may also wear some indian hats and logger blouses ... Fortunately not all the french people think that about the french-canadians ..
