At one point I had every piece of work he had ever released, but I lost several copies moving from one place to the next, and I haven't picked up any of his new stuff since the last Dark Tower book. My cousin works in a book store and got me Duma Key for Christmas, but I haven't started it yet.

I wonder if the Dark Tower series could be made into a movie or an HBO series.

I would personally prefer an animated movie over a live action one I think, Clint Eastwood could do Rolands voice!

I love the Dark Tower series.

May they never, ever ruin it by trying to make it into a movie.

I'm afraid it would be destroyed if they tried to do it that way. I would love it if they could pull it off, but it might be best to keep it in all it's glory---on the pages.

Have you seen the graphic novels they started making with marvel for it?

They are pretty cool, only 2 of them out so far though.
IMO, a movie would definitely destroy the series. Books are all about using your imagination. I bet if we could perceptively compare my Dark Tower World, and yours, they would be totally different. Movies take that away, and I bet none of the actors or scenes would match up to how I imagined them, so they should just leave well enough alone, I say.

I'm about halfway through book seven of the Dark Tower now. It is so sentimental for me to read the progressions of these characters after all this time, it's been almost 14 years since I first started reading the series. I can only imagine what it must be like for King, considering it has been around 30 years since he started writing it. (Give or take a few years, I'm too lazy to look up the date of production for the first novel, I just know that it was in the 70's at first print.)

I loved the Bachman Books, and yes, I just finished reading that Rage was taken out of production in the US because of the ties to school violence, at King's request. Original editions are selling for as much as $150 at auction. The Long Walk was a gripping story and I could barely put it down for a second. I felt like I was there walking that path with them. I kind of liked Running Man too, but Roadwork, I hardly even remember. It didn't quite leave the same impression on me as other works.

I don't want anyone who has finished it to ruin the ending of The Dark Tower for me, I have ideas of how I THINK it should end, but I know enough to know it will turn out nothing like I imagined. I am so anxious I can barely stand it though.

ahhh, so that's why I can't find that book.

I've been to about three books stores and was never able to understand why I could never find it.

I'm definitely not paying $150 for it though, guess I will just never get the chance to read it.

Shit, I am so lucky that my mom owns all of the Bachman books... including Rage. Powerful story.

The Dark Tower... I could ramble for hours...

Oh, Neodude, you can still buy coopies of Rage (for now) on Amazeron. I just found a few copies earlier this morning for around $18.00. It was only the original copies that were 150.00, but there will be no reprints of Rage, so eventually, EVERY copy ill be worth something. Long Walk, Running Man, and Roadwork are all still available as individual copies, and the Bachman Books are still floating out there as well, they will just get harder to find as time goes on. I'm planning on hitting up Amazon for a copy of the Bachman Books sometime soon, because I want all four stories in one book, just like my original copy, which is now worth a boatload...and I lost it when I moved a few years ago. :(

How about everybody post their top five favorite stories! And if the Dark Tower is one, you are welcome to count each book as a seperate choice if you want, or the whole series, because each book does kind of have it's own personality. Here's mine:

    1. The Dark Tower (The Drawing of the Three) AND Book VII (tied!)
    2. Rage
    3. The Long Walk
    4. Hearts in Atlantis
    5. Gerald's Game
