It's just sitting on the bookcase looking at me, crying for my attention. Hence my current reading of 'The Talisman', another chunk of a book, in itself a 'magic and spellbinding experience' - while i get books 2 and 3 in the Dark Tower series purchased. I'll probably wait until christmas though. Something to read on the dark nights! :D

My first reaction to the ending was, WTF. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it was the only ending that would have fit. There was no way to satisfy me after such an ordeal. Just leaving it open was the only way to go. I was very disappointed at Eddie's death. Cried at Jake's (my best friend had just died from a car accident a few days earlier, so that made it worse). I also expected more out of CK and RF. Kind of anti-climatic for those characters. BTW, I loved the books so much, my dog is named Oy.

Update on my current Dark Tower position - got books 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 for Christmas (titles= 2:'The Drawing of the Three', 3:'The Waste Lands', 5:'Wolves of the Calla', 6:'Song of Susannah', 7:'The Dark Tower'.

Currently on page 431 of 'The Drawing of the Three'; can't wait to continue the epic quest for the Dark Tower. It's been such a good read so far, and after hearing mixed opinions on the ending of the series; it's good to read comments like the one posted above ^ !!

...and it's so satisfying to have every book in the series sat in chronological order on a shelf, in prime condition just waiting to be explored.

I'm on book 6 of the series, I'm just kinda mad that from reading other books tied to DT beforehand, and surfing the net, that I already knew a lot of what happens. I have resisted thus far from reading the ending, but I pretty much know it based on what people have said, and I wrote a prediction on Yahoo Answers and asked if I was close, and they said yeah you pretty much have it. I kinda guessed it would end something like that though just from knowing about the nature of The Tower.

My favorites so far where The Drawing Of The Three & The Wastelands.
The first one was unique, & proved essential to the third. The fourth was painful except for the beginning & end, but I guess we eventually had to learn Roland's history. The 5th was good, but I think they spent way too much time in that town.

why would you write predictions and ask on yahoo answers when you have the books just waiting for you to read.. as king wrote himself on the back of book 7 'the dark tower': ''you've come this far. come a little farther. come all the way..'' - why ruin that by submitting predictions? to each their own, but i will never understand people like you.

current positioning on the series - book 3: the wastelands, page 270 - jake is about to pass from his world into midworld as roland draws his last..

Like I said, I already had background info on it, so I basically figured it out. I just wanted to read it because it is the main link between a bunch of his other stories.

    whoa! this is crazy.
i came on to the fiction forum specifically looking for a post about the series, and it was the first link i saw!
i am a huuuge fan of all the books. king's story-telling abilities are absolutely masterful.
and i love the idea of different worlds existing on different planes of reality, cause that's always been what i believed!

It seems like a lot of you are pissed by the deaths of Eddie and of Jake. but I was thinking about this the other day, and although i was very emotional when both of them were killed off, it was nice to have some time alone with Roland and Susannah because at that point, Susannah was the only one who Roland hadn't spent any time alone with.

He was alone with Jake in the first book, and he was alone with Eddie on the beach before Susannah was drawn into their world, but never her, not until that point.
