    Grant me the serenity
    to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference

    Humbly asked your deity to remove our shortcomings.

    Step 7 is the natural follow up to Step 6 in that it is a proactive step from the readiness to let the higher source cleanse the addict. The asking itself is the step towards cleansing. The character work must be done by the individual addict, but it is the asking and pleading with the infinite for help that gives the addict the strength to succeed.

    It is this change in attitude coming in the form of pleading and asking of the infinite for help that transforms the addict's life.
