Stealing votes (not implying it's a real thing)

I'm posting this further to the post below about electoral college voting.
I'm an uneducated Canadian btw.
So how are votes supposedly stolen? If it is happened, are there not be systems or checks in place to prevent that?

To answer the OPs question, what is being alleged is that (particularly postal) ballots may have been counted that were not valid. Each state has rules regarding what constitutes a legal ballot. In some states they have to be postmarked and/or received on or before election day. In some states they have to be signed and the signature on the ballot has to match the one on the envelope. It's possible for ballots to be counted more than once, some states that use machines have admitted to errors taking place in the count. In some cases ballots were received from people who had moved out of state or deceased. All these scenarios are what is meant by stealing votes or stealing the election.

Voter fraud was last seen in 2016 when the Trump campaign had help from hackers associated with Putin's Russian government. That was what Robert Mueller's probe was all about. Other than that there have been always been rumors that the Chicago Mob "helped" Kennedy edge out Nixon in 1960 ( there is no evidence of it I dont think), And before that, there were things which occurred around the turn of the 19th Century.

 

I voted for Biden by absentee ballot mainly because I remembered that Russian hacking thing in 2016.
