    Hopefully

Started my holiday from work on Friday, aiming to be totally barefoot for the next 2 weeks.

Got a few things planned, a couple of day trips to the coast - no problems doing that barefoot. Some gardening to do, but only light stuff so that's ok. I often mow the lawn barefoot
One or two of the things I'm hoping to do may require flip flops, but hopefully not.

I've been Barefoot since taking my shoes off for a yoga class on Friday evening, already done lots of things this weekend.

It's so nice to know I don't have to put shoes on tomorrow morning.:)

Shoes for me tomorrow at least for part of the day. I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go...........:(

  3. heated ground...stinging pebbles....the warm grass....early day dewy grass....scalding blacktop, storms and mud and pleasure, and intense heat and scored soles and tingling bare soles overnite and sensitive sole-skin the next morning and all the pips and utter pleasures of GOING BAREFOOT in the summer.
    :sunny:

    Why the fuck not?

We were at a local country park yesterday afternoon. The weather was lovely and warm, lots of people there.

I walked for a couple of miles on warm grass, it felt fantastic, seems strange to me not to want to walk barefoot on that. Yet every one else I saw, even the ones wearing flip flops, kept their shoes on. What's up with people, are they scared to be seen barefoot in public?

    Why not indeed
Seems wrong Not to be barefoot in summer

  6. Just came in from a 30-minute barefoot walk on heated asphalt and macadam. Something about feeling that demonic sting of heat on the periphery of the bared sole that is exquisite. Dr. Sacher-Masoch, do you still have office hours?

It's been 5 days now, and apart from a short time wearing flip flops on Tuesday morning, it's been barefoot all the way.

Drove to the seaside today and didn't take any shoes with me. Spent several hours walking around the shops, amusements and the beach, it was exciting to think that my nearest shoes were over 75 miles away.

That is the best part. I've been barefoot for 3 months and love knowing whatever I need to do it will have to be barefoot. Shoes were falling apart so I threw them out.

If you really want an exciting experience, throw away all of your shoes. It is such a rush knowing that you must go everywhere and do everything barefoot.

Yeah thats what I was trying to express. And you inspired me years ago. I love knowing I have to do that...doctors, banks, stores, malls. No choice. On the other hand if ur doing that for 2 weeks, it counts big time. Cause same deal.

No way! I like the modicum of protection that modern mesh running/trail shoes offer too much! I recently got a pair of Montrail Rogue Racers for a great price. Really nice compromise between support and close-to-earth-level sole flatness. The mesh they're made of is very cool (in both senses of the word), the tongue is a simple, non-bellows one, and they give a fine sense of the terrain underfoot. There isn't any way on God's Green that I'm giving these up for summer! Worn with Layer 8 'quick wick' style low-cut liner socks I've been happily toting up those trail walk miles.

For me the whole lack of shoes thing is totally liberating. Mentally it separates me from the materialistic lifestyle I so dislike.

Shoes are just another thing I've been happy to live without. Sure I've got a pair of boots for when I need the safety thing working around animals and machinery; but otherwise I've not needed to wear footwear for a few years.

Just been told off in my local supermarket, not asked to leave though. One of the assistants at the self service till said " We don't like people going barefoot in the store". Usual stuff about stepping on glass etc. I just smiled and said ok. Funny thing is, this is the fourth time this week I've been in there barefoot, the first three with shorts on so my feet were obvious, but this morning I was wearing jeans.

Perhaps it was because my soles were extra dirty because of the wet weather.

Yeah I've had it in my local supermarket (Tesco) too.
I've just explained politely that I don't have shoes to wear. They just reiterate that it's my risk and will not be responsible if I'm stupid and step on something nasty. I don't go there very often, but I understand that they're just trying to be all corporate and H&S minded. :)

All relative, innit. I'm someone who wears lightweight shoes but who doesn't own a car, for example, or have a big dog whose bark ruins the quiet as people look to enjoy some serenity and thought-time while out on a walk, so I still feel entitled to call myself less materialistic than a barefooter who maintains a petrol guzzler or owns a mutt! I go everywhere on foot or by bike or occasionally via public transport. Even though I'm always in shoes when out there, not having a car 'forces' me to engage with the environment in a more vivid and total way than a shoeless driver essentially does.

Only 4 more days of bare feet .

Not looking forward to wearing shoes for work on Monday.

Need to get a job as a Lifeguard or Yoga teacher or something. Must be great having a job you can do barefoot.
