Lol What you said was I accused someone of being a bigot because they left the faith. Which I didn't. What you were trying to do was play with someone else's post, which I clearly stood by in its entirety, and cherry pick it to suit... Whatever it is you're doing here. So respond to where I'm wrong specifically. Or drop it. Either way is fine with me.
Ok, I never said anything to dispute this concept that anyone is totally right or totally wrong, but it is a fact there is a difference between theology and administration. Edit: wrote that wrong... I mean I understand and agree everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But... Etc...
I think that there is more of a fine line than you think. For example, they have a vow of confidentiality when hearing confessions. Many of these priests confessed that they were hurting kids and they were not reported to the police. The RCC isn’t above secular law but if you read some of the recent documents coming out of the PA scandals, some of the hierarchy were “confused” as to how to handle it. They are supposed to comforting and shepherds, not covering up abuses. This gets tangled in theology because they believe that their rules are sovereign. They believe that their positions are ordained by God and while we are all sinners, they take advantage of not only their positions as leaders but also misinterpret the Gospels. I left because I could no longer follow a bunch of hypocrites who are supposed to be “leaders,” for if you can’t trust the hierarchy why keep attending mass and following a faith that seems more concerned with image and power, than Jesus? And that is when I left five years ago, and started a faith journey...and I follow Jesus and His teachings. No popes or priests to get in my way.
There are some who do that. But I reiterate there is no church teaching that says these things. They are hierarchical abuses. And they're wrong, and I agree secular law should be applied. When these things come to light I don't know why the police and various DAs don't take more action. I think you're right that it's complicated. That's kind of why I think the conversation is important.
It is and I’m glad we are having it. It’s um cathartic lol I appreciate your views and you listening to mine.
These things often strike nerves I think. Especially people with pasts involving them. I have one, and I can't speak for her but I think Deidre does too but from a completely different perspective. D and I sometimes speak totally different languages I think. But... Hey, I think it's healthy as long as everyone feels alright about it at the end.
I just want everyone to be friends. Life is too serious. None of us are getting out alive. Let's just eat, drink and be merry!
I get where you’re coming from. I guess when you leave or discover something, either way, you want to shout what you know or think you know from the roof tops because you hope it will save people the pain you went through. Perhaps that is why my words might come across a bit harsh but my intent is to just have a dialogue. Noserider is right, though.
Back on topic Jamie Oliver is overrated and his recipes are not very good. Annoying too. Actually, that was all an understatement - he fucking sucks, and his face looks very punchable. Oasis. They were good. I was reminded of them because Noel Gallagher performed at that Fifa award show.
