I've not heard a cover that wasn't better than the original version, aside from in Across the Universe.

Dylan's whiny-assed voice is pure TORTURE;

there were only 25 albums ever made that you would actually WANT the whole thing;

the greatest thing since the invention of albums is the 99¢ SONG that you love, that you can now buy, as a single, without having to pay for a bunch of other crap you don't really want;

and folks that would appear to be trying to blast out the windows of the houses they pass by in their BASSED OUT vehicles.

America sucks. Both its gov't and a lot of its citizens. Were losing more rights every year and barely anybody questions anything.

 

This one depends on my mood. Led Zeppelin I feel have written overall more beautiful and better songs, but so many of their songs sound so similar, and their sound can just be too bland for many moods (the Velvet Underground is a much better comparable band)
Whereas, the Rolling Stones are twenty billion times more fun, but typically not as emotional, but with just a bit more range than Zep, can also get a bit stale if you listen to too much, or can feel rather bland if you are in a mood other than 'catchy fun' (minus a few songs that are just great, like Paint it Black)

 

you and i are on the same page with that. I always thought stones had a better upbeat personality to the band...much more fun. where else zeppelin was a bit sad and depressing to their tunes but still good. if they only created more albums like houses of the holy. id have a debate about both bands but otherwise stones got this one. paint it black sucked imo

 

I love Sean Lennon and Yoko Ono. Sean has real talent and Yoko is a great artist. John loved her and she understood him.
Julian Lennon is freakin' ugly and Cynthia is bitter that he left her and she had no artistic talent whatsoever. She's clingy and gets remarried on a weekly basis. They both need to get a clue, stop talking shit about John, and realize there's a reason he left them. Julian and Cynthia were and still are LAME, Yoko and Sean have always been John's real family, because he married Yoko because he LOVED her, not because he was forced into it like Cynthia.

 

This reminds me of what a friend of mine said once.

Leonard Cohen is better than Bob Dylan, Johny Cash, and the Beatles combined.

 

I fail to see how that's intellectual superiority. I don't say people are stupid for being offended--I don't think that at all. I just think that there is no real reason for it to offend them.

 

The word is taboo. That's the reason. And given that language is a societal construct rather than an absolute, a "real" reason is a societally constructed one. There's no real reason for people to be offended by the word "******" if we're just looking at the individual morphemes that make up the word. It becomes offensive by virtue of what it means to society as a whole. Same goes for "****".

It's my opinion that most so called hippies are not nearly as informed as they claim to be about humanitarian aid and world events.

It seems as though there is plenty of faith involved in there "peace and love" stance.

Hippies want peace and love but are against all war it would seem, they would rather not hear news of 120,000 marsh Arabs who's lives were destroyed by a racist dictator.

Perhaps if Saddam Husein had wore a swastika arm band and was culling off white people in his respected region they would more easily accept what is at stake and the need for military action in the middle east?

New age followers of hippie philosophy are walking billboards for a brain dead ideology that fills people with false hope.

How many more be headings would you need to see before you understand the world does not always respond to "peace and love" or even reason for that matter?

The only thing the hippie movement does now is spread disinformation.

Bob Dylan is just as overrated as Leonard Cohen is underrated, why I chose to close with this I don't know.

I wouldn't call it a crime, but yea, we are cheating ourselves out of a lot by not realising that as a whole.

well for one, i think its pretty dumb to keep pets, they're animals, meant to be in the outdoors, they're just loud, and make your house smell like shit. also dont believe in zoos, put the animals in the wild where they belong and come from, especially exotic pets, fuckin anacondas and tigers and shit? what?!?!?!?

i think that having a society that dosent believe or care about the afterlife would be good, more people droppin the belief in it, would be better for us, i think it would make more morals as opposed to less cause life would be held as more sacred, cause its the only one you got. wasting your life away would be a much stronger statement.

although i think that, i think consiousness in not limited to phsysical processes, if i am blind, deaf paralyzyed and all, im still aware im here... there has to be more awareness than the physical senses.

i dont like cops, even though i think we need em, cause without em id say alot of people would be murdered/raped or anything else right now... i think laws and government is a reflection of our downfall as a society, how we cant govern ourselves. i think for the most part people are to stupid to do that.
