OMG ~ it's taken me THIS LONG to "get it" !!! i had thought about posting back to you that, while it wasn't BLUE blue, it was a damned sight bluer than green grass!
Yeah, i had to think long and hard before using that word, but it's the one that fits, so. i don't see religion and science as being at logger-heads ~ for me, it's two ways of looking at the same thing, and they aren't mutually exclusive ~ they are working toward a common goal. But, yeah, i'll STFU, and am truly sorry if i've offended anyone.
It may fit you. It doesn't fit all people. If you went upto a homosexual and said: "I don't like your perversion, but I won't hold that agaist you." But: "I don't like your way of life, but i won't hold it against you"...sounds a lot better, imo. I do think that are.
i would never walk up to anyone and say either of those things, to be honest. IF someone that is homosexual wants to talk to me about my feelings, i'd state them, and the reasoning that went into them. But, let's back up for a sec: pervert /v. pərˈvɜrt; n. ˈpɜrvərt/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [v. per-vurt; n. pur-vert] –verb (used with object) 1. to affect with perversion. 2. to lead astray morally. 3. to turn away from the right course. 4. to lead into mental error or false judgment. 5. to turn to an improper use; misapply. 6. to misconstrue or misinterpret, esp. deliberately; distort: to pervert someone's statement. 7. to bring to a less excellent state; vitiate; debase. 8. Pathology. to change to what is unnatural or abnormal. 9. to convert or persuade to a religious belief regarded as false or wrong. ^ That's from Dictionary dot com, and the bolded deffinitions are the one's i'm using. Since i would probably use those exact words in any conversation about this subject ~ "You've been turned away from a right course" ~ it's the word that fits. We could dance all around it ~ thesaurus-ing up a bunch of synonyms to try to make it sound less derougatory ~ but i just haven't felt any need to pussy-foot around with y'all. And, Odon? It hurts me to think that i might be hurting someone that i care about with some dumbassed opinion that i have, so i'd really just like to drop this like a hot potato...
You are not hurting me. I'm not in tears or anything. I just think you are a nice person, so what you say should reflect that, imo. Using "perversion" probably doesn't do you any favours, imo. It is your opinion that homosexuality is: The definitions you have highlighed. Go look up homosexuality in your dictionary. See if it mentions any of those words that are applied to perversion. As soon as it does, i'll not say another word. I don't wish to get into any of this if you do not wish...but don't feel you can't due to some percieved slight you may feel I feel. It isn't true.
I also agree with this, and have noticed it in many many many ways. Take this as you will, but I'm surprised such a strong mind could come off so ignorant (as you did in the original post I quoted) Again, very surprised in contrast to op.
This is a free speech forum, but we're making it unpleasant. Maybe we should just state opinions without reacting to them.
I think Fyrenza is allowed to think whatever the hell he wants to, especially in this thread. As for the argument on homosexuality, doesnt matter in the end, half the time its happening right under your nose without you even realising it. Part of the reason parents of gay kids sometimes get angry when their kids "come out" Is cos they realise with those most cherished, those closest to them, they had no clue, or they convinced themselves to be in deep denial. And then they start to wonder who else in thier life that applies to. Unless you have the ability to read minds, you can never REALLY know anyone
i actually meant anyone that might be hurt by my words, which i was pretty sure did not include you The thing is, i say stuff here in the forums that i wouldn't ever DREAM of saying in real life, and chose words without regard to negativity/neutrality/positivity, based soley on the definitions. i suppose the fact that a lot of us wouldn't say the same things in real life that we do in here is the main reason we haven't been murdered where we stand...
I think that a great majority of people who use those little wheelchair scooters, wheelchairs, and the like (especially at Walmart, where EVERYONE rides one) are lazy and need to stand the fuck up and walk on their own two feet. even when I'm an old lady I refuse to use a walker, cane, any walking assisting device. I feel its so indignified, and I will keep in shape so i can stand on my own two feet, not hunched over in a cart at Walmart. I glare at the 400 lbs. old ladies in those carts and walk extra fast by them to show them the concept of legs. Its really disgusting. these people who obviously can use their legs, but refuse to, and because of that are morbidly obese. My boyfriend and I were at Costco one day and saw an old man in a cart dragging his wheelchair beside him blocking the entire aisle. They both were very disgusting... their legs look horrid from disuse. We looked at each other and agreed never to turn out like that. Seriously, have you any dignity?
Interesting. Wouldn't mind seeing those. I saw a study that measured male and female reactions to erotic visual stimulus, which found that the male brain gives the man a kind of endorphin "reward" any time he sees someone he wants to have sex with. All well and good, but get this: this works with gay men as well as straight men. Not only is this useful in confirming that it's the maleness of the brain that's causing it (rather than the femaleness of the thing being looked at), but it does prove that at least some of the gay male brain is the same as the straight male brain. Personally I don't buy the idea that gay men are like straight women and vice versa. I'm very much in the "nurture" camp and I think that gay men are expected to behave in a female manner, and do so for the sake of being more agreeable to society as a whole. I might even go so far as to say that it's the gay guys who lack a strong sense of identity rooted in anything other than their sexuality/differance who tend to conform to the feminine homosexual archetype. I don't get the sense from even the campest of gay guys that they really think like women, and in so far as one can separate such things along gender lines, if nothing else they tend to have a very non-female attitude towards sex.
-There is nothing wrong with ephebophilia. I'd even extend that to young teenagers, like 13 or 14. -No words are any worse than any other word--it's all up to intent. If I call someone a **** but I don't mean to offend them, it should offend them no more than if I called them a telephone. -Suicide is selfish and pointless and only digs you deeper. -Organised religion is bad. I could go on for hours about that, so I'll just sum it up like that. -People who are significantly mentally retarded and will not be able to contribute to society really, REALLY bother me. -All drugs should be legalised and decriminalised. -There is no universal right or wrong, good or evil. -There's no point to prostitution being illegal. -Similarly, people are being put in jail for all the wrong reasons. In fact, I would go so far as to say I generally oppose jail. I can understand not wanting a serial killer on the loose, but beyond that, I really see no case in which jail is necessary. -I don't like veganism and vegetarianism. Unless you're doing it for health reasons, it just irks me. -I think people are naturally bisexual and choose to be straight or gay. Obviously it's not a decision in the "wake-up-one-morning-and-decide-to-be-gay" sense--it's more so a compilation of biases and preconceived notions that push one towards an unconscious decision. -There is no reason at all to keep your young children from seeing sex.
How about if you called them a **** and then insisted that you didn't mean it to offend them just to make them feel stupid for being offended and get yourself a wholly undeserved fix of intellectual superiority?
I agree to everything except abortion. Abortion is right to a certain level. and time. I really like the second one. But men actually enjoy eating out Marriage is silly and waste of time and money Hopping into some relatioship or something just because you feel its right to do, is wrong Canucks cant handle me Lesbians are a joke Drugs should stay illegal Gay men are NOT like straight women, nor do they act like them. Women act like normal women. they dont have rainbows shootin out their asses all the time. Women should be in more control (making desicions, not in a bitchy way) cats are better than dogs fat people sicken me
its easy to quit smoking cigs, just dont put them in your mouth and dont light them.... just stop if you want to.
People should be limited to the amount of kids they can have. Stupid people shouldn't be able to have kids.
