Does Your State Have a Mask Mandate Due to Coronavirus? Seven states — Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington — require most people to wear masks in indoor public places, whether or not they have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia have similar orders in place. Oregon also requires face-covering in public settings outdoors. California, Connecticut and New York have indoor mask mandates that extend only to the unvaccinated. Many states eased or eliminated mask orders in May and June after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said fully vaccinated people — those who are at least two weeks past receiving their second Pfizer or Moderna shot or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine — can safely forgo face-covering in most public settings.
It does appear that the world as a whole is going backward on this . The problem as I see it is that you had a 2 tier system before in the main . Ie Double Jabbed no needed to wear face covering . The unvaccinated did . I'm guessing the problem would be policing it and that unvaccinated people would be going around spreading the virus as they too would be not wearing the face coverings. I guess as they would I dare say, see a 2 tier system as being unfair. And lets be honest here, there isn't many people like wearing one. So for ease of policing the one rule fits all has been reintroduced in some areas for ease of policing and enforcing if necessary . The pros and cons for the need to wear one is another matter as there are a growing number of professionals that are questioning how effective these are . Compared to the UK where it is advisory only now, the drop off in useage is very noticeable since it was down graded.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has issued a new mask advisory in light of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated guidance. Fully vaccinated individuals are advised to wear a mask or face covering when indoors (and not in your own home) if you have a weakened immune system, or if you are at increased risk for severe disease because of your age or an underlying medical condition, or if someone in your household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, or is an unvaccinated adult. Masks are still mandatory for all individuals on public and private transportation systems (including rideshares, livery, taxi, ferries, MBTA, Commuter Rail and transportation stations), in healthcare facilities and in other settings hosting vulnerable populations, such as congregate care settings.
