Well, we hopefully will have a bus which we will renovate so that would be no problem!

I'm not so sure it would be a traveling band, seeing how I can't play anything (although I would love to learn)... but you can definately play when ever you want and if you request a stop to try and play a gig I will be up for it.

..Everyone who has showed interest I have been thinking of a lot more ideas and if you still have a serious interest please contact me and tell me your ideas! environmental_junkie@hotmail.com

This dream/paradise is open to anyone who is dedicated... So please give me a shout

I'm done with high school in May then I'm on the road. I would love to find some people to travel with throughout the summer then stop in Nevada for Burningman then fly to Amsterdam hitting festivals along the way. I wish I could find some active communes to visit and as a gift to them I could stay for the growing season, plant a bountiful veggies garden, stay for the harvest and canning and leave them with fresh canned food for the winter. I just want to get out there, if only I could find the right people to pursue it with *HiNT..anyone?

^ I think you've stumbled across a good thread for this, I gotta say from the way things are looking im actually getting excited!...FINALLY people who are into this :)..hmmm would anyone be into staying on Saltspring Island for a bit? It's a community on Vancouver Island thats so just...yeah, im lacking the words here to explain it...or even Seachelt, where Joni Mitchel lives (and supposevly enjoys walking around her house naked)...I was thinking of moving to Tofino or Victoria in the next few years for a bit, before I head off anyplace...i love the whole laid back small community thing, the people are just so real...not out to be seen, just out purley for themselves, and thats just rad.

I'll be off in may or june. I don't have a car or money so I'll be hitching maybe are paths will cross. First major stop will be the 2005 nat. rainbow gathering. Thought that would be a good place to start a life on the road.

ah man thats craaaaaaazy that's where we were thinking of going this spring! we know people on pender, dead close to salt spring, but we've considered it too.. My dad and brother have lived out there before, and we all really like the looks of Tofino/Ucluelet, or maybe somewhere even mid island, like tahsis. Mostly we want to get out on the coast somewhere or on the gulf islands. :D

man i have wanted a life on the road for as long as i can remember, right now my plans are just to save the money from my job and head out near the end of the summer hitching. i would love to get a travelling band thing together though. ive been playing drums for like 7 years and im learning bass. but mainly i would like to spend like a year hitching first. the only thing is that id really like a travelling partner. if anyone just wants to go wherever and do whatever for a year or more email me and maybe we can make some plans. tyler_brush@walla.com

I've been at the traveling game for quite a while now. Being "mobile" is such a kick.
Here are a few things that I've learned: 1. If you don't need a bus, try a van because the expenses are lower. 2. Have an address somewhere, even if you're on the road full-time(maybe a family member or a friend who lives where auto insurance etc. is cheap) 3. Use temp agencies to find quick work if you run low on cash. 4. Remember that pets have to eat too (think small) 5. Have just a little more money than you need to get to the next place. (You're not as likely to get ripped-off that way) 5. In the western U.S. you can usually camp on undeveloped BLM land for free for 14 days at a time (unless it's posted otherwise) 6. Tread lightly no matter where you go.

sorry about that..unless you live in the western half of the country, you probably don't hear that acronym very much. Bureau of Land Management. They manage public lands in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, Alaska, Utah, Arizona, and a little bit in some the Eastern States. The US Forest Service takes care of the lands with timber, and the BLM takes care of the other stuff like desert and canyonlands. The Grand Canyon is managed by the BLM and the National Parks Service

    Cool, thanks for the info.

So you're saying you can camp, free of charge, on BLM lands for 14 days? That's awesome... all you'd have to do is move your campsite a few feet every two weeks and you could freakin live there. Haha, just kidding. Or am I...

yeah, there are a lot of places that are free. they also have some developed ones with picnic areas and water hydrants and restrooms..they charge for those, but not very much. I worked for them as a temp for a couple of years (doing photography and database work) it was the coolest job. I also helped with off road trails, gps mapping,
and driving supplies to the firefighters. It paid really good. I basically got paid $15 hr to ride atv's, camp in the desert, shoot pictures of rec sites and do inventory work for their database. Unfortunately, there was a 24 month limit on temp positions and I had to quit. That's cool though..I was wanting do more some travel anyway. We spent the next year in Oklahoma working for parks and rec. I've been doing temp work for years. We go to a part of the country, work until the contract expires then go to the next place. The project I'm on now is over in august, then we'll look for another one some where else. (maybe wext coast, maybe east coast ..who knows)
Hey, it's been nice talkin' to ya

you can do that. you have to move it more tha a few feet though(a few miles) but you can stay intill they know your there then you have two week to move(you tell them you just got there if they ask) my dad did this for many years. I met a lot of people living out there when I was with him. whole familys living in the woods . some of the best years of my life
