Exactly. I liked the first part of the movie introducing the new characters and uniting them with legendary Han Solo and Chewbacca, but by the end my impression was of the original 1977 Star Wars recycled to death. The assault on the death star by the rebellion, I mean resistance, was anticlimactic because it was already done, and better at that. My verdict is it was entertaining but ultimately worse than the prequels due to lack of originality. Grade: D+/C-

I liked the ending with Luke Skywalker and hope future installments redeem the series.

yep...flying down the channels to hit the one weak spot in the system...done done and over done

and 30 some years later youd think theyd have newer fighter craft butnope...still the same old crap

I enjoyed it. Sure....it's easy for people to say how they thought it could have been better. Apply for a job and start making movies for a living. The reason I'm not making movies is because I'm much better at typing on the internet than I am at producing movies. I thought it was great. I saw it twice so far. I'm fine with using the old fighter craft (rebels don't have access to tax dollars to fund new technology anyway...so of course they would have to use older stuff)

But....it's worse than the prequels? Shut the fuck up. Seriously.

Destroying the death star again, I didnt really see that as a thing, was a subplot really, and handled pretty quickly. They did the same thing with return of the jedi, copy that part from A New Hope, didnt really matter, wasnt the main plot, the main plot was Luke,Vader and the Emperor.

And with this movie, the main plot was Rey vs Ren, Solo, and Rey and Finn

Iron Man 1, I'll probably watch 20 more times over the next 20 years, the defeating the villain part is pretty lame, its just his business partner that dons a bigger suit, but thats not really the main plot, rest of it is such an awesome movie. The sequels I dont really care for, the villian subplot in Iron Man 3 was a lot more clever, but the movie was still nowhere near as good as 1

Despite all the effects, still all comes down to one actor and a few good character actors, the dialogue and a good old revenge story or one antagonist against all odds story line

Rey, Solo, Finn and Ren make this movie for me, I know I'll be able to watch a hundred times, attacking the death star again is just a tool to put those characters in certain situations together

As for 30 yeats later, they should have had different ships, star wars fans would have had a big cry if the tie fighters didnt look like tie fighters

Watch you in your tiny little club of TFA haters, and most everyone else going on about how awesome a movie it was 10 years later

Why dont you have a Hayden Christiansen movie marathon, get out your Jar Jar action figure sit him on the couch with you, he wont argue

never said i liked the prequels, hayden christansen and adam driver are about the exact same level of suck for the series

And if you bothered to get out of your nostaligic love for seeing your childhood return on screen, you'd realize a lot of critics and fans alike have made huge lists of parallels between the plagerisms of force awakens, and the plot holes that line the rest.

Not suprised by any of star wars figures, tbh they could have released a much worse movie and made the same figures. It was still fun for it's goal of being entertaining. But don't know why you're so content with being sold lazy scriptwriting

    Seen it. Loved it!

I had never seen the prequels before, having boycotted them and considering myself an old school veteran; I didn't want them to ruin my image of Star Wars and make me want to burn the 400 Lego sets in my hall closet.

But I sat down and watched them all in chronological order the weekend before we set out to see this Disney incarnation of my beloved fantasy series. The prequels were not as bad as I had always imagined they'd be and I was pleasantly surprised.

As for TFA. I hate Disney but they did a decent job. I would never have taken out XXXX but they needed an OMG moment and I suppose a sacrifice had to be made for the sake of film credibility. No "war" movie is without casualties. The last two minutes of the movie had me sobbing too, with her imploring look and outstretched hand; leaving the space for the film to follow wide and full of possibilities.

    Yay for female protagonist!
    Yay for female Jedi!
Yay for no Jar Jar Binks!
Yay for not letting us know if Kylo is really dead, or what happened to Captain P( because I love the actor playing)

Sob for Wookie. Poor Wookie. I actually started crying in the previews and didn't stop until I got in the parking lot.( Avenegers preview hurt me having to see Iron Man getting beat down by Captain America)

YAY! It's back and I only have to wait like 2 years to see another one!

Nope, not tonight. Friend of mine should not be travelling over here tonight on the roads such as they are. Should be better tomorrow....
Works out better for me that way, anyway...was not in the mood for going to the movies tonight anyway.....
We can go to the diner beforehand tomorrow night, too....that is the best part.....
