Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens Movie Blurb by Shale December 18, 2015 I was hooked on the first Star Wars movie in theater in 1977. Just back from India which was like a trip to antiquity, I was abruptly thrown into a Galaxy Far, Far Away, that blew away all previous Sci-Fi movies. I followed the trilogy, which this week I watched anew the first three numbered IV, V & VI (did they know they were gonna make 3 prequels in '77?). So, here is episode VII, which takes up the story about 30 years after we saw the end of the Emperor and the Empire, with villain Darth Vader finally tapping into his good father side and defending Luke Skywalker, his son and last Jedi Knight. That was a wrap and everyone was supposed to live happily ever after. But, evil is never conclusively defeated. The remnants of the Galactic Empire pulled together and in those 30 years the First Order emerges with millions of Storm Troopers and a black-clad leader named Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) with powers of The Force suspiciously similar to Vader's. Kylo Ren with Storm Troopers I am not going to go into any of this story because it would be rife with spoilers. You will have to see it unfold for yourself. However, those into Star Wars already know that many of the cast from the original movies are in this one. Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) is now only addressed as General Organa. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbaca are back, still getting into trouble with their shady associates in their criminal dealings. Chewbaca & Han Solo There are also new characters, the young fighters of the Resistance in which General Organa commands. Resistance X-Wing fighter pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) is central to the mission and is trying to get important info back to the Resistance when he is caught by the First Order. He puts the info into his droid, the cute orange ball shaped BB-8 who makes a run for it. Poe is helped to escape by a disheartened, deserting Storm Trooper FN-2187 (John Boyega) who later takes the name Finn. Three New Characters Finn later meets up with a very resourceful girl, Rey (Daisy Ridley) who is scavenging on a dessert planet and who has rescued BB-8. Fin & Rey Eventually, all these characters get together when Rey and Finn steal the Millennium Falcon from a junk yard, which brings them to Han and Chewy and they all meet up with the Resistance. Oh, and R2D2 & C3PO are still around in cameos. I really did like the movie - it seems to be doing well at the box office (our theater was packed at a Friday noon matinee - Don't these ppl work or go to school?), 95% of the aggregate critics on Rotten Tomatoes give it a fresh and 93% of audiences also liked it. Their consensus: "Packed with action and populated by both familiar faces and fresh blood, The Force Awakens successfully recalls the series' former glory while injecting it with renewed energy." Yeah. That.
None of you mods touch my thread and merge it with this one That was started a year ago, and was about the lead up to its release Anyhoo, movie is freakin AWESOME!!!! Four exclamation marks, that means awesome Ive seen it twice already and I want to see it again this weekend
Someone snuck thier camera into a theater and got the 2 first 2 mins (youtube) and I watched that.... A FAKE LOOKING/DISGUSTING PIECE OF CRAP!! (Like I figured)
Sequels Spanning Decades by Shale December 20, 2015 Here is an excerpt from my Blurb about Tron: Legacy on December 17, 2010. "... I saw the original Tron in theater in 1982 and it was one of the first movies to use Computer Graphic Illustration. CGI was new then, sorta like the video games played on large arcade consoles with flat graphics. Now, 28 years later we have video game graphics with depth and a sequel to Tron, the longest time span for a sequel to be made." See More Here: http://www.hipforums.com/forum/topic/391963-tron-legacy/ It was unique for being the longest time span for a sequel to be made and with Jeff Bridges from the original cast. Kevin Flynn 2.0 (Ageless program) Kevin Flynn 1.0 (Aged in Cyberspace) However, Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi, the last of the Star Wars original trilogy was released in 1983, 32 years prior to its sequel Star Wars VII. So, it appears we have a record breaking sequel here, with more of the original cast performing than in Tron. SPOILER WARNING S P A C E IDK if anyone has mentioned it yet, and it might spoil it for those yet to see the movie, but the secret message that needed to get to the resistance was the location of Luke Skywalker, who had gone into secret seclusion for the past 30 years. So, there were 3 of the main characters from the original movies (not counting the droids and Wookie). Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill in a cameo. Luke Skywalker
It appears Ford will get paid somewhere around $US 35 million or more for The Force Awakens A guy like that, with so many similar pay checks from previous blockbusters What the fuck you even going to do with $35 mill at 73? Its a bit obscene
just an fyi in case people didnt know Spoiler spoiler code works here... just do the regular [ spoiler] spoilled text [/spoiler ] code without the spaces i added of course
I wasn't that excited to see this movie in the theater but I do look forward to finally seeing it on dvd someday.
After re-watching a new hope. I think a force awakens might be worse than the prequels. I mean rey and finn were really cool characters, and I hope they'll be redeemed in the next movies. But JJ abrams literally just rehashed the original trilogy for all it's charm. here's the starkiller, the death star, but bigger. You've got to be kidding me. The shots were cool, it was fun to watch, but this will probably go down like phantom of menace
I thot it was just a set up teaser for the next sequel in which u-know-who plays a bigger part. If it was a Marvel movie that 30 seconds woulda been in the end credits.
Thanks for your input Maybe you could go start a facebook page inline with that opinion...and end up getting only one like....you know, from Hayden Christiansens mom
I enjoyed the movie and the sexual tension between Rey and Finn but it wasn't fully realized by JJ Abrams. When they had an opportunity to kiss, they merely hugged Hotwater
Saw it yesterday. Big let down and disappointment. It didn't feel right. I sat on it for 8 hours now, thinking. Trying to not hate... But I don't think it was all that great. I thought there was too much comedy, or one liners in it. Didn't care for the Ray chick, though she was terrible tbh. Accent completely killed the feel of the film. I was upset when Solo died, but that's cause I like Harrison Ford. I thought the little spherical droid was really cute though. I thought Leia was a pointless addition. She looked old and worn, carried over nothing from the originals. It was just like watching an old bickering mother tbh, too lazy to go get her son herself.
