Never seen a Star Wars film all the way through, never seen the appeal.......maybe.......one day........I'll change my mind!
Well soon they will have another trilogy to milk...if it's any good. If it isn't then maybe we could see some eu stuff hit the big screen.
Its just dumb, its not Harrison Ford, so who gives a shit about a young Han Solo Even if its a real good movie, so what, it doesnt mean anything. Rogue one was a good movie, but there was no point to it To paraphrase Asmos favourite ever Star Wars character Kylo Ren: Just let the old shit die I am sooo sick of prequels
Asmo's got it. These new movies are a shriveled up dessicated corpse of a film compared to those that came before. In fact each progressive trilogy has declined starkly in quality of not just story, but acting, humor, originality etc. I loved the prequels when I first saw them but I was also only around 13 when the Phantom Menace first came to the big screen & children are far too easily impressed by big special effects to be used as credible witnesses of quality. For the most part the acting in the prequels was atrocious, like with most modern movies one can readily tell it was a rushed job & that Lucas spent far more time on special effects than he did obtaining high caliber actors. As to these newer films......let me simply say this. Phantom & it's immediate successors may have lacked some quality in comparison to the originals but at least they had sound concepts & didn't leave me with a sour gut as I stood up & walked out of the theater. At least Phantom wasn't a prettied up corpse of A New Hope like The Force Awakens....a pitiful film that had no guiding principle other than those of nostalgia, alluded mystery, & bigger is better rake in the money. I refused to even watch The Last Jedi because I saw what it's predecessor was & wanted nothing more to do with such complete & utter shit. Star Wars is a dead franchise & it should've been left to it's glorious end not resurrected for the sake of money & political agendas.
I keep hearing people say it's dead. Yet still makes over $500k per movie. Every franchise wishes it was that dead.
I was only 5 when the Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back came out, and 8 when Episode VI Return of the Jedi was released. Perhaps in some ways I am trying to recapture that magic again, but If you’ve read through the entire thread I’ve been quite critical of the prequels when warranted.
I was on the other hand rather impressed by Lost in Space, just finished watching the last ep in the first season. Now there is something that was definately an improvement on the original. The reasons were though, not too much reliance on CGI, foreground CGI anyway, the landscapes looked great
Lost in Space is definitely on my list of shows to watch, but between GOT, Westworld, and the Boston Bruins & Celtics playoff runs I don’t have the time right now.
I have a feeling Westworld is going to turn to shit in season 2, it should be an androids take over the world storyline, which is basically just Terminator, but they wont have the budget for that, so it will just be filler esoteric artistic bullshit like the first two eps of season 2 have been. Is there a single scene where evan rachel wood doesnt look like she is about to burst out crying
Choosing the right fan-edits makes the prequels much better. Conversely, with Star Wars '77 and Empire Strikes Back you want something that restores the originals and does away with all the tampering that Lucas did later on.
Always the optimist…...lol... But regarding Delores Abernathy I just think that’s the way her eyes naturally look, which is unfortunate because she’s hot but doesn’t have bedroom eyes
I know several people like this and I find it rather strange. It's basically just a kind of drama with loads of violence like every western or samurai/ninja movie that came before it. Rogue One was so good. The point is kind of lost on me after the Prequels, which were so bad and so lacking in any content that explored the deeper issues of humanity. Rogue One had a good moral story, though: dying for your friends/for a cause. Which is something that was missing in other Star Wars movies (aside from Obi Wan laying down his life, but that isn't really the same thing since Obi Wan can't die like other people.) I thought that was the best part of Rogue One, that the hero actually dies at the end. That's pretty daring as far as films these days go. Please, for the love of God, remake the Prequels. I disagree about Force Awakens. It was pretty bland, but it wasn't that bad. Not as bad as the prequels. At least there was some emotional content, i.e. Han dying. Anakin's fall from grace was more like Anakin fulfilling his lifelong dream of being a jerk. As for Last Jedi, it also had a self-sacrifice theme that was good to see. Honestly I would probably be more involved if the last Jedi were a man, but it's pretty cool that the girls get to experience the glory. (I GUESS.) I loved that Snokes got done in already. I hate that villain, and not like...he pisses me off. He's just so annoying and I'm glad he's not going to be in another movie.
I haven't paid much attention to them, no. I am certain that isn't the same thing as a remake of the prequels, though perhaps you are proud of your own fan edit or something?
I don't have anything like the necessary skills to make a fan-edit. I just enjoy them. There are fan-edits that fix bad movies. In the case of the Star Wars prequels, I recommend the Fall of the Jedi series by Q2. They are a vast improvement over the unedited prequels. And for the original versions of Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi from before Lucas tampered and ruined them, I recommend the restorations by Harmy.
It's not like whole new movies, though. I would need whole new movies that are more true to the Western theme, where Anakin is like...a gold hearted cowboy. I want to see this man's spirit crushed. I'll check them out, though. Cool, I didn't know there were restorations. I'm always on the lookout for old VHS copies, because I hate George Lucas revisions to the originals.
Just google "star wars" and "harmy" in the same search. I believe the most recent revisions are version 2.7 for Star Wars, version 2.0 for Empire Strikes Back, and version 2.5 for Return of the Jedi. Make sure you don't get an older revision. As newer sharper copies of the original unaltered scenes become available he keeps updating his restorations, and the newer versions are substantially improved over the older versions.
One further thing. When you get the Harmy restorations, take note of the sound track choices. For Star Wars for example, you have a choice between the original 70MM surround sound, the original 35MM stereo track, the original 35MM mono track, the 1983 laserdisc audio (also used in the old VHS tapes), and the 1993 laserdisc audio. I recommend the mono tracks for both Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back, as they have neat things that aren't in the other audio tracks.
