Damn she was gorgeous back then! Did you see the young Jamie Lee Curtis (cute as can be) in the group, and Betty White?
I'm in season 3 of maybe my 8th time watching TNG. This after binge-ing on the original series, which I have been watching since it was new. I won't rate favorite versions, I have too many episodes in each that I liked. Even the animated series had some excellent episodes if only for the story line. I liked Voyager most of the time, but like TNG it had some episodes that seemed more like the plot from a soap opera than a serious sci-fi study.
Star Trek can never die, because it doesn't really have a clear identity, and even their porn is popular.
I could absolutely see where Star Trek porn could be very popular starting with Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) from the original Star Trek, Yeoman Rand (Grace Lee Whitney) from the original Star Trek, Jadzia Dax (Terry Farrel) from Star Trek: DSN, Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) from Star trek: Voyager, T’Pol (Jolene Blalock) from Enterprise, Kes (Jennifer Lien) from Star Trek: Voyager, Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby) from Star Trek: TNG, and dozens of other from single episodes including Zarabeth (Mariette Hartley) who played a cave woman from the original series. Spock was ready to kill to get some of that cave woman poontang.
Fans have even written their own porn literature, while some producers are pushing to make the first R rated Star Trek. All that militancy makes them excited.
Must be a bit of a oddity because I loved Voyager! I liked the premise, and liked Janeway as a captain. Neelix though...there is no excuse for him.
I agree I hated Neelix as well. Originally he was supposed to be their guide in the Delta Quadrant and the love interest of Kes, but eventually he turned out to be their cook, supply officer, and their morale officer.
Janeway was a classic Irish Catholic character of the Katharine Hepburn variety, and she even insisted on adding a bit of classic comedy. In real life, her brain was fried by the church or someone, but that's why she could bring authenticity to the character. There are only so many seasoned actors out there to choose from, and she had proven her ability to lead a troop on stage. These days, they make so many movies they can afford better actors, while fifty years ago they had an even smaller pool with no real professional training. It was only in the last few decades that the industry figured out how to teach even a chimpanzee to act. Good enough for the camera to make more sense of if nothing else. Clint Eastwood's live performance at the republican convention, shocked all his fans, because he's crap without the cameras.
I preferred Thunderbirds. Stop frame animation was such fun and playing with all those little models was even better. Even the voiceover comes for free when you are married.
