Yesterday we went to Kathio state park for a hike, hardly any snow left so I took my flip flops off and began our 4.5 mile epic journey .
First mile wasn't bad, some gravel, acorns and lots of mud! We were following a trail we had hiked when everything was frozen and covered in snow, It was way different this time, thick swamp grass, ice and water.

My feet were pretty cold on that stretch of trail,we got to some higher ground but that didn't last too long before we came up to a swamp in the woods, deep damn holes and lots of ice. We started walking on logs and moss covered hummocks ,thick pieces of ice too.

After we got out of the watery part of the swamp the rest of the trail was muddy and frost heaved really bad.

I escaped with some minor scratches and my arches are wicked bruised and tender!

Can't wait to go back but to the trails in the hills.

  2. Slow and gradual does it, as we barefooters have all learned. You, too, obviously. But welcome to the club! You‘ve paid your initiation fee!

Thanks! At least my feet don't really hurt that bad today,I think we will head out tomorrow,we want to do ten miles if the trails aren't too bad.

Strange thing,my toes and feet warmed up faster being bare than in shoes.

  4. Barefooting is a blast; just don’t get undue, um, “blasters.”
