Spitting on Vietnam Soldiers

I didn't find anything about spitting on Snopes but I did find this;

Me and Mick L did catch "Fantasia" whacked out on some very strong Vietnamese pot I grew back in '71. I was a BIG FAN of far eastern marihuanas.
At any rate; the only vet I ever heard on who was spit on was the Shark. I have no reason to disbelieve his story. How much of this story is urban myth and how much is fact? I don't know. It is a fact that some nameless GVT agencies were playing all sorts of mind games on the population back in the day and I deeply suspect that this was one of them. How else could "longhairs" get around in a public place, commit such acts, and not get stomped into the ground? If such things were happening they would have had to have had some official sanction.

Soldiers and veterans deserve the same respect as any other human being, irrelevent of their actions.

I loathe and resent anyone who thinks that soldiers shouldn't be respected. I'm a young man going into the Army. It does NOT make me a bad person; it makes me a person who wants a career and a job. I may be going to the Army, but I'm also going to Africa to work with Charities. Don't judge a man on his choices he makes in life!

Has it occurred to anyone that there is a far more productive way to greet soldiers returning from a war you don't believe in? Like with signs that say, "Please don't go back!" "Please don't fight for me!" "Please don't get yourself killed for me!", and pass out flyers telling them how to join Vietnam Veterans Against the War, or today's equivalent?

When you disrespect soldiers in any way, including spitting, you disgrace the anti-war movement. It's more productive to try to win them over. Better to build bridges than walls.

No,you can't make them stop,it really just takes you closer down to their level.A soldier kills.That's their job.They chose that job for whatever reason , it don't matter to those they kill.The dead don't care what else they were thinking or the fact that they did charity work,they're dead.Cheated out of life by some gung ho idiot who killed for a living and did charity work on the side.

Thanks gate. These guys will say anything to justify themselves. Yes, in the utopian dream, no one should judge anyone. But this ain't no utopian dream. This is real life and death. If you don't make some kind of judgements according to what people do, then you will end up being in a world of shit. EVERYONE has to make judgements about others to figure out if you even want to associate with them or not. That's just the way life works. And I'm not interested in being an associate of someone who can make a million rationalizations for why it's ok to kill and torture...

There is such a thing as "right livelyhood". That's where you make a living doing something that hurts no one. THAT would be the goal of the utopian dreamers. Now, yes, there is a little bit of god in everyone, but that only means that all souls have something or another to teach others. But some souls are full of evil and some are full of light. So, we should be open to learning from everyone. But some individuals biggest lessons to teach are the bad ones that we do not care to participate in ourselves. How would I REALLY "know" that killing was wrong if I never saw anyone do it? We have to learn from other peoples mistakes so we dont commit them ourselves. So, in that way, everyones input is necessary. I have spent my whole life, since I was a kid even, studying what other people do and how it effects them and the world around them. I did not want to have to make all the mistakes. Figured I'd let the other guys make them and then see how it all came out. So, I see how war comes out. Not too hard to decifer that. Do I want any part of it? Hell no. Obviously. I'm not stupid. All the rationalization in the world won't change that. Right and wrong are not debatable.

 

Governments make war, soldiers do not.

What gives anyone the right to say what anyone else should, or shouldn't do in their own life. I have just about as much right to say you're in the wrong for living on a commune, than you do to say my choice for being a soldier is wrong!

Live your own life and make your own decisions. You have no right to criticise other peoples choices, let alone spit on them.

Hoo hoo!! Certainly anyone can try to do whatever they like. Including spitting or killing. Or name calling or raping or anything else. It's perfectly all right to follow your dream. That's what makes the world such a WONDERFUL and HAPPY place! Amazingly enough, I have yet to see the president, the congress, senators, and all the rest take off their suits and ties and grab guns and bombs and get out there and fight for what they believe in. All I see thenm do is make a bunch of decisions as if the rest of us can't thinkourselves, and then send some gullible and easily trained/manipulated souls in to do their battles for them. And it works because there are too many people who don't question it. Sheep, I believe they are called. Pawns would be another word for it. Puppets perhaps? Yes, I hold soldiers very much accountable for their actions. I must be held accountable for mine. If I wanted to go too deeply into this I would go so far as to say that the soldiers are ROBBING from the people. Stealing their ability to live peacefully without fear or hassle. Do not think that for a moment this pacifistic hippy "****" would ever stand by and watch if I really needed to defend myself. But this movie that our so called government has created is all a falacy. We get to watch some of it on TV, (the part they want us to see) like a bad soap opera. O-o-o-o-o! They MADE me do it! I was only following orders! OK, so, I assume you were all born with brains? Or is it unacceptable to think for yourself? If I did something bad because I was just following orders than I have done something bad times two. This scum sucking government just loves people who don't question their omnipotence. Seems to me it's the people who make judgments that have put us in a world of shit.
