ok, then, now we're getting somewhere. "spitting" on someone is all about pride.
principles & possibilities is about practicing what you preach, my friend, so looky here...

gate68, not only did i proudly patrol the western pacific aboard a guided missile cruiser, but i also proudly (one year later) climbed a 240ft water tower on the philadelphia naval base and occupied it for 3 days in protest of the treatment of servicemen who were in legal trouble within the military (in)justice system. i spent 3 months in the brig for that one. later in 1977, i pulled a fire alarm in the "legal hold" barracks, and when everyone was outside, i handed out pamphlets from the Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors. there was a joint taped inside each one. big FAT ones. half a pound ($240 for a 1/2lb of columbian gold, how's that for a flashback?) it took 3 of us all night to roll it up and tape 'em in. i did that stuff while i was on active duty, then i kicked their butts at court martial & walked away with an honorable discharge. i was 20 years old.

2 years later, i found the "rocky flats truth force" in boulder and sat on "the tracks" for a year protesting the manufacture of nuclear weapons.

i hated the global military machine, and i still hate having it around, but this thread is
    about dissing american military veterans.

i've been around, ok? of course i'm aware of the possibilities, and 30 years ago i was expressing the same ideas as you now. you'd like to see it come to pass, me too. imo, you outta re-consider your opinion of the "state of mind" of your protectors, because the
american soldier is your best bet of it ever happening. it's the peace-keepers who keep
    the peace-niks alive.

I have to say I wish I had been around when people were spitting the faces of Vietnam vets coming home, that way I could go punch those people in the face. Anyone who spits in the face of a vet coming home from a war zone deserves a bunch in the nose. Serriously, some of the soldiers probably felt like they were communist POW's being taken to America when they got back.

Once again nobody got spit on.It's just a rummer perpetuated by gun-ho war zealots that want to preach their"the only way to peace is to kill everybody that disagrees"philosophy.

how many times have I wept deeply 36 years later, tears streaming, thinking about the spirits of passed on American Vietnam soldiers that no longer have a body to enjoy this world?

I was one of those troops that got spit on.O'hara airport as a matter of fact. And in truth,I leveled both of them in very short order. You show very little
understanding for a thing that happened long before you were born.If your ass was drafted and sent to war,it's kill or be killed,I suppose you'd lay down and cry for your mommy.Soldiers don't start wars kid, they just have to fight them.
Your ignorance is only equalled by your lack of knowledge on the subject.

I think that was well put. You gotta do what you gotta do. Peace to you, Thank you for what you did for your country, and GOD BLESS!!!!!!

Good, soldiers deserve to be spat on. A soldier is the lowest form of life, I have more respect for a beetle that feeds on shit than someone who is not capable of living their own life and thinking for themselves.

You have over 11,000 posts and you accuse others of not living their own lives? Do you actually have a life outside Hipforums?

In a perfect world we wouldn't need soldiers, but there's no perfect world. I hate to see the U.S. acting like the world's police force, but that's supposed to be the United Nation's job. Unfortunately they're too weak and divisive to get the job done. "United" Nations my ass!

Until human beings can get past this "us and them" mindset and learn to appreciate diversity and the value of ALL human life, we will need soldiers. I just hope and pray it doesn't take WWIII to get people to adopt such attitudes.

I live my own life, whether I do live it outside the Hipfora or not. That is not relevant for this.
But you suck for attacking me personally whilst I just attacked a group of complete brainless morons.

Turd_Migration - Do your parents know you use their computer? I was staying away from this thread knowing that kids get on here and write the juvenile stuff kids think is cute and funny, while others try to be relevent without the credentials to qualify their statements. Behind the stupidity they type, I sincerely hope they are learning something from what others honestly post here. Lot to learn if you look among the fly shit! For Turd, GATE68 your old man? Care to explain where you're coming from, or are we just going to read your little spouts about something neither of you know anything about. Qualify it, man. You got the anger. Where's it coming from? Why do you own it?

I’m relatively new here…I've never posted but have read quite a few of the threads over the past few months. I decided to put in my 2 cents and I apologize in advance for rambling on a bit…

“Screwed him up for life. All them soilders should have been treated like the ones from wwwII when they returned. They still have to fight the gov for bennefits. They owe them soilders big time still to this day.”

A bit off topic, but my Dad fought in the Korean War—and when they say it’s the “forgotten” war, they’re not kidding. Just like the guys coming back from Vietnam, there were no ticket tape parades or crowds cheering from the shore as they returned like there was after WWII. My Dad landed in California and hitch hiked all the way back home to Minnesota. He told me that no one ever approached him, never talked to him or even acknowledged his service to this country even though he traveled in his army uniform. He never talked about his time over in Korea very much, but one time, when I was around 14 years old, I asked him if he had ever seen anyone get killed. The expression on his face still haunts me to this day—he grieved for not only his friends that died, but also for the Koreans, who were the face of the “enemy.”

I have a good friend at work who fought in Vietnam. He’s had health issues over the years that were a result from agent orange, but of course the government will never fess up to it. He told me that early on in the war, strangers saw the soldiers off with wildflower bouquets, but as the years wore on, the public’s attitude changed. This man is 68 years old and I’ve seen him cry when he talks about visiting the Vietnam Memorial or just about old friends he knew and lost. My Dad retired after 21 years, having served in the army and the Air Force as an air traffic controller.

Myself, I served 4 years in the Air Force and I knew when I joined that this wasn’t just an easy way to get some decent work experience, save a few bucks, and get the GI bill for college (my dad taught me as much). If the military had wanted to send me over to some inhospitable, war ravaged land (which they never did of course), I would have had to go. I was prepared for that. At 5:00 everyday when they played the national anthem, I wasn’t like some people who ran for cover so they didn’t have to stand outside at attention and salute the flag.

Personally I don’t agree with the war in Iraq (although I’m glad that Saddam Hussein is out of power), but I do support the men and women who are over there. I think those who commit war atrocities should pay for their crimes, but we can’t paint all the soldiers with the same brush. I think if you could talk to them one and one, they would tell you that at the end of the day, all they want is just to go home.

I see. All you did was attack a group of complete brainless morons, i.e. anyone who's ever served in the military. Poor baby, I'm so mean!

BM, it's obvious that you have precious little real life experience, but that doesn't keep you from being an opinionated little dickhead. Get up off your ass from in front of that computer and go out and meet some flesh and blood people, including soldiers, and talk to them. You might learn something about the real world you live in.

Arguing with an idiot makes you look like one as well.
And I am also glad you know exactly about my life. Who is being the opinionated little dickhead here?

You love and respect soldiers, I do not. What else is there to say?

It doesn't matter. Some people were forced to be a "the lowest form of life", and we should respect them. I do. Because they try to fight for our freedom even if it is wrong. They do their best and I have alot of RESPECT for them. And I don't even like the war. But I don't take it out on them.
