Young bosses on an ego trip and older people who have become bitter and insecure can destroy the working environment in any company and the latter are the hardest to deal with.
I would advise chatting to him in the privacy of his office on a regular basis, assuring him that you want the company to work, but at the same time making it clear that you expect his support rather than criticism.
I imagine that you get on well with your fellow workers, so getting everyone to adopt a similar attitude may help to diffuse the situation.
If you have workers who are unwilling and corrupt the workplace, once they realize that they do not fit in, they will soon move on.
In the meantime, keep an eye open for a better position, but be careful not to jump out of the frying pan into the fire.

What you're saying is so true. He's nearing retirement and has been in this role for like 15 years. I've been here for a few years, and I remember when he told me that he had an affair with one of the staff. She's gone now, but I remember thinking...why are you telling me this? Then, he fired someone like a little over a year ago, and she sued the company for harassment, implicating him, and he's still here. What?? lol He has people who don't do much on the team, and he coddles them, and comes down hard on people who are doing a good job (like me and others) and it makes no sense. So, I know it sounds crazy, but when I ran across spells, I thought I'd try a banishing spell. When you read the rationale behind Wicca, it's not that far out there. It's like any other religion or philosophy, with their own core beliefs.

The odd thing is, I think the spell worked, he's been different...distant from the whole group (which was the idea) I don't think the guy is evil, but he is a detriment to the company. To your point, I have been friendly with him over the past few years, but he gets worse and worse and takes advantage. He's a grown man, makes a ton of money to run a division, and I'm done acting like how he treats me and others is okay. My friends and husband tell me to go to HR, but the head of that dept is good friends with him. Not sure it would make a difference.

Life is never easy and Jane is now in a similar position.
3 departments merged and Jane did not want to apply to run them (she is 66) As a result a young boss with little practical experience was appointed. Last month she worked out a shortcut and told her bosses that she could cut staff. As a result, 9,000 people were paid the wrong salary and their pension contributions degenerated into a complete shambles. Jane rarely arrives home before 9pm after working for 13 hours and spends the week ends logged onto her work via our server.
It is hard to believe that all this is going on in departments or the UK government.

I don’t understand how companies can’t see the mayhem that is created by having the wrong person in the wrong role. :/

    ((Send Jane hugs))

and where do you get THIS from, other then books, written by humans?

what isn't known is still there. and it still owes nothing to what anyone tells anyone else to pretend.

(whether as to its form, its will, or anything else about it.)

what i'm advocating? logic, consideration and honesty.

without which, there is only uncertainty, tyranny and ignorance.

advocating a world in which EVERYone, can persue and need not fear to, the gratificaitons of creating and exploring,

and not be robbed of the universal wonder of strangeness by anyone trying to tell them every one has to pretend the same things,

nor that as a species, we can never get our act together because of some supposedly inherent flaw.

that we not approach nature and the universe as something that owes our species anything,

but as a partner and equal to harmlessly and honestly explore.

No...have not read any books on the subject...am not that interested.....It was your inconsistancy of knocking down one religion and belief system and seeming to promote another......

Wait him out. He's retiring soon? Just wait him out, don't put your job security in jeopardy unless you have something already lined up, payment agreement established and know that it is a better job. He's a horrible manger and lacks leadership skills and should have been fired a long time ago for inappropriate relationships with subordinate workers. Fuckin douchebag. Hang in there, and quit messing with the damn spells.

He hasn’t announced anything but he’s approaching mid 60’s I think, so he should be thinking about it. I appreciate your advice, and we will see what happens. Depending on what happens tomorrow I’m going to report him to HR. Thing that sucks is I like my job other than this dude. :(

Do you have the support of other co-workers, I.e. Folks willing to provide witness statements or are you going about this all alone?

If he “punishes” as a group over what one coworker did on Friday, I’m sure the group will go to HR. Or one of us will and the group will be for it. This guy doesn’t belong managing anyone and I’ve only been here a few years but noticed that early on. And others see it but no one speaks up but what happened Friday, enough is enough.

Wish me luck for tomorrow! :grimacing:

it wasn't the, or any religion system itself i was knocking down, but the predominance of it being exploited, as anything popular enough often is, by those who could not honestly care less about all the good intentions that motivated its creation.
