Just a quick diversion. What was his funniest line? I've only heard one routine, about the fisrt Iraq war.
thats nice but who is he, a comedian, a politition, an oncologist.... you get my point. what does he have to his name to make his differant opinion socially acredited?
i've never felt abused from what my parents did to me. i got hit by a weight lifting belt...i still have the belt in my room..pretty old and pretty crappy belt. i got a better belt for when i have kids - much thicker and better quality leather. supposed to last forever - we'll see when i put it to the test
Cate's actually very intelligent and is going to be a wonderful mom when she chooses to be one. How she wants to interact with her kids, is her choice, as long as she's not breakimg the law. Taking a total opposite stance or calling soemone ignorant, only makes it less likely that your opinion will be taken seriously.
That's against the law and I would think it would be emotionaly scaring. But, I guess it's also an Irish thing. You guys seem to love beating your kids. But your always home to have dinner with them everynight and always there for them. It must be a cultural thing because onviously your parent being as loving as they are, didn;t itnend it as abuse. I don't get you Irish...
My two sisters and I actually got my dad a leather belt one year for fathers day, and that was what he used to spank us throughout the years. Good one, dad.
Sometimes kids don't listen no matter what little psychology trick you may use... kids have a way of finding loopholes in your 'trickery' and just end up being difficult anyway... It's the free will of the child and sometimes a light smack on the bottom and a loud voice is necessary to get them to realize that you aren't messing around. And that's even after taking away their toys, tv, etc. I wish that it can all be avoided. With some kids it can be and others not so much. Depends on the child really. I was only smacked a few times when I was a kid. All it really took for me to straighten up was for my mother to give me the stink eye.
mister "You should read all of my posts before you say anything about me" You are being MIGHTY hypocritical as I KNOW you haven't read all of cate's posts, and yet, you are personally attacking her (something you're not supposed to do) get down off your high horse.
its definitely more accepted in different cultures. i was spanked, my brother was spanked...everyone in my family including distant relatives were spanked. you do something wrong after you were told not to do it...you get your ass smacked for it. thats just how it is. no hard feelings. its not considered child abuse within the culture....spanking is just a natural part of growing up in an african american family.
NZ: Anti-smacking bill becomes law The bill removes from the Crimes Act the statutory defence of "reasonable force" to correct a child, meaning there will be no justification for the use of force for that purpose.
