Completely off topic from the other posts, I know, but love has had different meanings through out time. Religious love, courtly love, platonic love, etc.
Love is always subjective, imo. I see no evidence that there is some force out shooting arrows in folks' asses. I think the best thing to do is to either assume the natural or to say, "I don't know", but the majority of people assume the "supernatural" when there is NO REASON WHATSOEVER to do so. History ought to be a lesson on that. And you as a physics major ought to agree with that statement. As far as my "adding a quotation" for you, LOOSEN UP. It was all in fun, dude. If it offended you, I don't know what to say to you.
I by no means lay claim to the supernatural, I'm just saying that emotions run deeper than the dancing of the universal constituents. I didn't take offense to anything you've said, seeing how impersonal forums are to begin with. But to be honest, the threat of calling a moderator then being told to loosen up is rather confusing. I mean, I've got nothing against you, I'd just like to see more of an open mind in the general public today. Before studying physics I thought I had a pretty concrete view of how the universe works, the same view most people have. After studying that view was destroyed, my perception of the world vastly differed beyond anything I could have fathomed. I mean, gravity being caused by the warps in the fabric of time, the subatomic world being governed by probability, they were concepts I could have never imagined. I feel this is true for the general society today. Most people don't even think of questioning the ideas they've already had concreted in their brains. I have to admit, it stems more from all the anti-terrorist claims and whatnot than from ideas regarding love, but the application is still valid. I just think it would be a travesty for one to not be graced by the wonders of love.
Well, to me, everything is natural. I see no evidence otherwise. Love/Emotions has to come from somewhere inside the individual. What about those who are brain dead? Love/Emotions I think rationally MUST COME from consciousness and the brain is the seat of it all. Without the brain, where is the consciousness? There is no evidence for spirits or souls, but PLENTY of evidence dealing with consciousness and the brain. Chemicals, not voodoo. Until you or someone else can offer EVIDENCE to the contrary there is no reason for me to give it any credence. You may not believe in spirits or souls, so what is your beef? What is your argument? You don't believe love is "spiritual", yet you don't believe it is chemical?? WTF??? Well, let's here your explanation. All ears here.
I believe there is such a thing as a soulmate. Why not? Some people find each other that way, and it's beautiful when they do.
I don't understand those who believe in something that's on the thin line between fact and fiction until they actually know about it for real; like if they've never personally seen/heard/touched/smelt examples of it's existence but are going purely on an incline, taking it upon themselves to put their trust in their believe and follow it with a positive attitude, then I can only wonder where this believe has been derived from. God/Heaven, Satan/Hell, reincarnation, what happens after death (Ghosts), life on other planets; and in this instance soul mates are just a few of many examples.
I like it when these same people experience something that they cannot explain and AUTOMATICALLY attribute it to the supernatural or whatever it may be merely because THEY cannot explain it. And when someone does or tries they turn them off because they WANT to believe it's supernatural.
On that note - I'm about to start a new thread in the paranormal section on something that happened last night that's confused the fuck out of me and friends, to do with dancing lights in the sky (go on, fuckin laugh, enough of us witnessed them).
Libertine You are being boring.....and showing the worst traits of your "stubborn" taurean sun sign. You know you see fairies....stop giving that lovely longhaired spliff smoking honey a a hard time will ya? I found "another one" for you....alas she aint too naked...but still.... ....and I am still waiting for my Johnny pic...???
The original poster makes me laugh. His new age uniformity avatar and the slogan- " think for yourself" yet here he is quoting some inconclusive cack two Hungarian scientists quoted back in the 40's. I bet the o.p isnt a day over 20 and the longest term relationship they've ever had lasted 2 weeks. You've got to laugh at the 'metrosexual designer stoner' though. Whether it's a state of reliance or familiarity- love has influenced poets, artists, driven men to kill, driven people to destroy themselves, caused wars since the dawn of time.. but hey "a chemical in the brain & a few pheromones are responsible". lol Bring up at least one family first, have some kids, serenade a lady... anything.. just get some life experience so that you're able to type about what you know. What an idiot. lol, lol, lol
ROFL... your so fucking hilarious I can barely keep myself from throwing up. We'd all LOVE to hear your explanation. Or can you actually do anything more than just spew ignorant shit?
That was not funny though. A joke should provoke a laugh. But that was just fucking lame, sorry. ''Asshole''? Fuck, the power of the over-used American insult is destroying my soul, mate.
